She is such a good teacher. If you put in 100 percent, she'll put in 110 percent. Yes she gives alot of work, or has alot to say (constructive criticism) but she gives good feedback and actually improves your writing. She is cool, and funny, and definitely makes sure you pass her class. Just put in the effort, she will too.

Stay away. I think she forgets that students are there to LEARN, not already professional, perfect writers!I don't mind a challenge and some tough love, but constructive criticism and patience is not her thing.

She's retired now, but just wanted to say she was an amazing professor. Made me love English more. Made me open my eyes a little more of the world. Focused mostly on Native American and the minority identity. She was sweet. So sad that she is retiring! :( I would've loved to take her for 1B and 1C.

Keeler is an amazing teacher. She will make you work, but it will be so worth it in the long run. One of the deepest, most enriching classes I have ever taken.

Keeler is rude and sweet at the same time. I loved it! I feel that if you went to office hours to get your paper checked before you turn it in, you'd get a better grade. My only regret is that I didn't get to go to office hours, because she really is a good professor. She's a professor that pushes you, and in return you want to do well. So GO!

Honestly she was a tough teacher and grader but i really learned a lot. You should be pretty good at writing because it will help but even if you aren't she is extremely helpful. You will learn a lot.

I agree with everyone. U must LOVE 2 b made fun of and looked down upon 2 enjoy this class. AUTHORITY ABUSE. very hard grader as well & once she gets it into her head you're not her favorite student, she seriously just gives bad marks on the rest of all ur papers. She also admits that she doesn't "care to check her 1A students' emails"... caring?

HARD. Not to mention, kind of arrogant & rude. Sarcastic & will make fun of u. 1st bit of class we read this BS book about Memory/Identity, & wright a book review. Next we read ridiculously daunting 15+ page psych articles & right a report. & end w/ a Review of Literature. VERY HARD GRADER! clearly favors students, & will give them much better grad

Showed some promise as a decent teacher. Bonus points for discussing sociology and all that. However, I hate her arrogant attitude and how she has the gall to insult someone's speech impediments. She also lost credibility for showing a BS hippie movie like "Bleep"(look it up, you'll see what I mean).

Though rude at times, Keeler is a great professor! Course is extremely difficult, but you learn writing skills you thought you never had. If you are not prepared to do the work, do not take this class! Beyond the difficulties, you will learn tons of stuff. The books she requires are very inexpensive.

Dr. Keeler expects her 1C students to perform at a high level. The work required to succeed in this class is substantial, but if you're at this level you should be prepared for that. She is extremely helpful (if you ask) and provides excellent strategies for completing the assignments. The education she provides is very useful and brilliant.

There's a difference between a teacher that grades hard and a teacher that openly mocks you. I hope she gets fired.

I just took her Children's Literature class and I thought that yes, she grades hard but she is a fantastic teacher. She indirectly pushes you to do better. I got only A's in her class because I applied all my energy to be successful.I would recommend her if your plan for your future is to be a better person and learn about something with passion

What baffles me is how she manages to get a good score. She loves humiliating you in front of the class, so only take her if you're some sort of masochist.

At first, she seems like a really intimidating prof. because she doesn't cut the slack for anybody. Regardless, she is very enthusiastic about what she teaches, and made learning about Native American Myths and Legends really interesting. She's funny and very helpful. As long as you're willing to work hard, she'll be a great teacher.

Prime example of "authority abuse". Very condescending and rude. Won't hesitate calling you a retard (specifically, a "nicer" way of saying retard) for asking for help or if you made the tiniest of mistakes. Will make an example out of you, which is highly unprofessional. Recommendation: Find a better teacher.

Overall, has very insightful lectures. Teaches the parts of literature that are mostly ignored, such as Native American Lit, or Fairy Tales and Mythology from an adult perspective. CAN become irritated easily if she's in a bad mood unfortunately. But honestly, if English comes easily to you, her classes are a snap. (Yes, textbooks are necessary.)
