Worst college class I've ever taken. This guy needs to retire already. Nice, but can have an attitude with you. Entire grade is based on a few exams and a paper. Paper is easily graded, but tough exams. His lectures are useless and have nothing to do with the exams. I would recommend not using the text and just watching youtube videos. HARD A.

The entire class is based on 4 Exams. Its difficult to take lecture notes since he just starts talking. No intro. He doesnt stick to the syllabus & will lecture the 1st month of the syllabus in one class. Youre better off reading the chapters on your own & using his study guide (key words) of which you had to take a pic of. Loses papers also.

Likes to lecture! There is no powerpoint to follow along to, so when he lectures it's all about listening to him go on and on and he tends to go off topic too. Sometimes he'll write a few words on the board but again, no actual notes. You need to read your book basically. Exams aren't simple. Nice guy, tough class, didn't really take attendance.

I think I know about his personal life more than history. At first he'll seem cool, he'll start talking about his life and half way through the class you'll start to realize it was part of the lecture. One big run on sentence, thats what his lectures are with a little bit about the lakers, his ex wives and Chinese history. no relation to the class

The entire class is lectures and nothing else. His lectures are exciting and helpful to understand the "behind the scenes" of historical phenomena. You have the liberty to either just attend class and not read the textbook or the opposite. So if you do attend class, don't use your phone or you'll be screamed at. MANY extra credit opportunities.

Very poor teacher. He goes off topic constantly in lectures. He doesn't lecture accordingly to book. Do not waste your time in this class. You can pass by studying your own and I mean a lot.

He doesn't have an order in the way he lectures, you feel like you have nothing to write down for notes that would be helpful for the test, and he shows lots of moviesvideos. When I was confused on the study guide, i asked for help and his response was, "Well I can't tell you." and "I don't really remember what was on the test."

I found the course to be very good. The professor took our whole class out to chinese food and we all just chipped in like 10 bucks each. History is a great topic, so unless you enjoy history, most likely, you won't get the idea. He has alot of experience in history, especially has cultivated a fondness of culture, and has visited abroad many times

Very hard to understand. Unclear with lectures. Needs a new method of teaching. Lecture is only based on what he has at the top of his head. His lectures have nothing to do with his exams.

What can I say? I made the worst choice ever. This teacher was the least engaging teacher I have ever had. His lectures put me to sleep and note taking is super hard because he doesn't have any power points. This teacher doesn't even cover the right topics for a us history class rather he focused on japanese/chinese history and last time i checked this is AMERICAN history! Do yourself a favor and don't take his class!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. His lectures are just a run on sentence. He refers to entire demographics as "them" in lectures and changes them constantly without ever clarifying who he his actually talking about. He says "anyway.." and changes the subject 20 times per class. On top of all this he humiliates students regularly for small indiscretions.

he is rude disrespectful and annoying. he was nasty to multiple students and his teaching methods suck don't buy the book because the test is based on his idea of what happened in history and all the class is is history off the top of his head I didn't learn a thing and I HATED him and history class after taking this. if I could say more I would

It was a good class. Developed my interest in Chinese/Japanese History. The book, Mao's Great Famine was a useful tool, and the class itself was interesting. Maybe it is my interest in the topic, but the class and teacher in comparsion to others at FC is much kinder, fairer, and modest.

Mr Reins is not a teacher that I would recommend. He comes off as fairly easygoing during his lectures, but this also leads to the suprise of his insanely difficult, almost entirely based on arbitrary information tests. He fails to see the big picture and will not teach you anything!

If you're a history buff, this class is for YOU. Teaching style is difficult. Class is entirely lecture. Notes and attendance are CRITICAL! A nice guy, but a rough teacher. There are only two tests and an essay, with extra credit provided. Textbook reading is a MUST for exams. PHONES are NOT ALLOWED. NO JOKE. Texting will get you kicked out.

Good professor, horrible textbook. Used 10th edition McKay. Text seemed incomplete, poorly written, trendy language. I purchased a different textbook so I could learn. Please get rid of McKay!! Interesting lectures. Pay attention, take notes and use a different textbook to study from and you will do well.

Attendance is pointless when lectures are useless. Honestly all you have to do is attend class on the day he gives out the study guide and read the book/look up the answers. If grade is still unsatisfactory, do the extra credit. There's no reason you should not pass the class, but you WILL NOT learn anything!
