Comment:

Absolutely awesome teacher, very honest and caring. Just show up to class on time, do all the work and you will pass the class. Bring the New York Times each week. Really cares about his students and wants his students to success. Whenever I needed help on my assignments or had a question he was always there for me. Definitely take his class.

Comment:

One of my favorite professors. The class is pretty easy as long as you do your work on time and come to class. You can def skip a few as long as you continue to do the work. He is very personable if you are too and I felt he really cared ab my grade. Might sound dramatic but I wish this class wouldnt end.

listen, if you get this professor youre lucky, english aint to be messed with, makes the class easy asf. go to class. you can skip about 2 classes if you hand in evrything on time. this class is retarded easy so take him and youll pass. it can be awkward at times but hey thats life ya know. make sure u bring in new york times and you get an A.

Professor Burke is a high key spaz so take the L and do as he says from the top. If you are feeling like rolling out to the bathroom in the first fifteen keep it noted you'll be locked out till he feels like letting you in. Also if you are anything but someone who believes in far left wings ideas don't take his class my guy rants.

I'm not even sure if I would consider him a professor.... Burke gives ridiculous elementary guidelines. We read the NYT for 30 min & go to the library to do our assignment for like 2 hrs every week! I wouldn't even consider this a real class on researching because I honestly have learned nothing from this class. Also, he is super condescending.

Professor Burke is very particular about attendance and being on time. He grades you based on handing in the weekly assignments, quality really doesn't count. If you hand in all your work and get to class on time you'll get an A. Bring the New York Times. His classes are short and not very demanding so show up on time, do the work, and you're set.

Honestly my favorite professor at Brookdale. As long as you do the assignments and follow his outline for the papers, you will do well. He cares for his students and wants everyone to do well. If you do not put effort into his class, you will not do well. Show up, do the work, and you will do well. I give him an overall A++

This was the only ENGL 122 class I could take this semester, wish I waited to take it w/o Burke. He is rude and sarcastic; doesn't seem to want to be there. You have 2 papers to write along with outlines, summaries etc. He's obsessed with NYT and has you buy a paper for each class. Canvas is nonexistent. Takes late work, which is a good thing.

He dosnt give you much work but is extremely frustrating. He dosnt have an email or a canvas account so it is impossible to reach him outside of class. He accepts no late work. He made a kid in the class show everyone his skin condition. He lost a students paper and told her that she should drop the class because of it. He's kicked out 2 kids.

Loved Burke as my prof. He isn't clear, but he tells jokes throughout class and hes very understanding., Accepts late marks if you have a valid reason, very helpful. NYT is mandatory, and attending is. Very easy prof, I recommend him!! **sarcastic, so if you cant handle it, don't take it. VERY BIG ON GRAMMAR

The idea of using the NYT as a textbook is interesting, but that's all the class had going for it. As for the teaching I felt as if the papers I wrote back in fifth grade were higher quality than the ones I wrote during this class, not because of personal ability, but because of him enforcing detrimental guidelines with no alternatives. Avoid.

He's not a bad teacher, but because he had a hand in the book for the course, he feels like he can completely overhaul how you write a paper. I don't find it useful and frankly it's the most frustrating class I've had to date. Maybe some people are better suited for his teaching style, I on the other hand dread each paper.

He isnt a good teacher. He makes you buy the New York Times, which we didnt not need. You have to be EARLY, not on time or fashionably late. He wanted us to hand in our second paper during hurricane Sandy and wouldnt let me turn it in late when we were aloud back to school. He unclear during lessons and very unhelpful. Very unhelpful. Instead of helping me, he criticizes my paper in front of the class. Expects cookie cutter thesis. Does not seem to know what he is doing. Wastes time reading the paper which has no meaning to the assignments. I highly recommend to avoid this professor at all costs.

One of the better professors I had at Brookdale. Explains everything well and really cares about his students and is always willing to help you with anything related to the course. e really helped me improve my skills in writing papers. Definitely take his class.

Comment:

Chill guy, good professor. Has his beliefs, but does not shove them down your throat. Likes to get class talking and discussing current events. Even if you like keeping your opinions to yourself sometimes, as do I, it will still be educational. If you are having trouble he will sit down with you-he is approachable&helpful. Do work&meet deadlines.

Tim Burke is hands down one of the greatest assets to Brookdale.He is tough, but it's college.If you can't handle the criticism and the fact that he won't hold your hand and baby you, then leave.He truly improved my writing in the most positive ways.Take him.And for those who complain about the NYT,it's a whole lot cheaper than paying for a text.

Professor Burke is the best english professor i've ever had. In his class English Reseach, he might seem like a hard @** but that's only if you don't hand in your work or come to class prepared. As long as you pay attention in class, hand in the weekly work, and participate you're guaranteed an A.
