Vern is a really really good guy, but his teaching is not great. Be prepared to teach yourself... Just read your books, the notes given in Lyryx, and do the exercises. He's a really nice guy though which is quite a relief for other instructors at BCIT.

His lecture notes are useless. Skipping lectures won't do you any harm. Your textbook and Lyrics is your teacher for this course. The best thing Vern can do is give you the control figures for the hw. And his jokes are lame.

Vern is awesome. He knows that full-time OPMT students have very limited time. Everything's covered early so our last few classes are cancelled so we could work on other projects/studying. He also helps us get our hw done in less than 1/2 hr. All course mat is still covered, even with enough time for Joke-of-the-days during lectures.

Vern is the most helpful teacher I have ever had. He even gives out his home number and returns your call on the weekend to answer questions. Very easy to follow and emphasizes the important information. Excellent teacher!!
