Oh the candyman..where to start? Straight lecture, reading check quizzes, a lot of reading, pretty standard stuff (candy included). On occasion can make you laugh. He's an ok guy, seems easygoing but can be a jerk every now and again. I've had better, but I've had worse. If you get stuck in one of his classes, no worries, he's easy enough.

he is a terrible teacher! all we did was sit and listen to him mumble to himself and stare at his notes. if you have a question/comment- good luck! he rarely looks up. he laughs at his own jokes which no one else gets and i went after class many times to ask him about my grade- he never gives you a straight answer. he talks in circles for hours!

He's really friendly and easy to understand. You can learn a lot from him. Also, I've taken a couple of classes with him, and we NEVER read everything that's on the syllabus, because he gets really into what we are reading.

Dr. Searle is the****. Although he talks the whole class time about I'm not sure what, he brings candy and laughs alot and then says "Sorry for laughing but..." Basically we just watched movies, ate candy, and listened to him laugh at awkward moments. He's a sweetheart. Easy A. Just read the stuff.

BORING class. Lots of books that you're supposed to read, but I didn't read almost any of them and got B's on both tests. He gives thorough study guides with page numbers to review, so that's super helpful. Brings candy. Shows lots of videos. Laughs at his own jokes. Boring, but worth taking.

How can you dislike a prof who brings candy to class on a regular basis? Searle is great. This class was straight lecture, but as long as you semi-pay attention he gives you all the info you need for the tests in them. Likes to joke around and laugh at his own jokes. Can't wait to take him again.

Professor Searle is a very nice guy, but he can be kind of obnoxious because, when you answer a question, he stares the whole time and says, "Yeah... right... yeah... uh-huh." It's nearly impossible to fail a paper because he gives so much feedback telling you exactly what to change. The reading load for the 3009 class was very heavy.

This class is boring! I find myself thinking about anything but the class during the 50 minutes. He is a goofy but nice guy. As long as you can handle sitting for long periods of time with awkwardness because you don't know how to answer the questions you will be fine.

Dr. Searle is a great professor. The man has taught since like 1970 something.. anyways, he is awesome! Lots of reading and reading check quizzes. But, easy class... Loved Dante's inferno. Great book. Always remembers his students even after having them in class...

Easy A!!!! If you have to take an English class take one of his!!! Very nice and helpful, brings candy to class, lets you out early alot, and even if you only read a little bit of the stories you'll ace the quizzes.Midterm is super easy, I got a 100% without studying.

He is one of the most longwinded teachers I have ever had. I fought tedium constantly. He runs his classroom like a high school teacher would. No incentive to participate or even listen during class.
