Comment:
Prof. Elhindi has some interesting material, and I've enjoyed this class so far. He has nice reading material, and discussion, at least form me, is a great thing for this class. Only downside is that some lectures can seem somewhat sidetracked, but there is still some level of comprehension even then, so it's worth it.

Comment:
Professor Elhindi is clearly very passionate about literature and his career. He assigned readings for every class that we would discuss in groups. We had a term paper (8-10 pages) that we were given the entire semester to do, and the topics we were given to write about were pretty broad. The quizzes also weren't bad. All you have to do is read.

Comment:
I've taken Elhindi a couple of times. I generally enjoy his classes. I feel like he just sort of wings it through the lecture which can make it unclear on what he wants us to focus on. But when exams start to creep up, he is pretty clear on what will be on the exam. For an upper level course, it is the most chill you could possibly take.

This class is really tough! While Elhindi is hard to understand some time, it is really the material that makes the class hard. You really need to pay attention. He thinks the class is super easy but you really have to study for it. He does give some pop quizzes and a little bit of homework, but most of your grade is based off the midterm and final

Downsides: Sometimes it seemed as though he was not very into teaching our class. One may go into an exam or quiz feeling like they don't have a clue what they're about to be tested on. Upsides: Nice guy. Extremely knowledgable. Read and take thorough notes and you'll be fine.

Comment:
This class isn't a writing intensive course but it might as well be. Tests are essay format. Quizzes are short answer. Take a linguistic course or you'll be confused. He is very nice but the class isn't structured well. The books used are outdated which doesn't help with understanding the content. Subject matter is very boring.

Dr. Elhindi is a great guy and is very knowledgeable. But his class is not structured very well. If you do well with structure and with a clear idea of what information you are going to be tested on, this class is not for you. Be sure to read the book. Assigns 20-40 pages a class. Memorize all details. You don't know what the quizzes could be on.

He is nice teacher, but he does not care the student very much. Most of the time, he will let the student do the online exercise and go out. He does not guide the student at all when there is a presentation. Students can easily get lost. What is more,he does not grade the student seriously. So, you better have GOOD LUCK to succeed in this class!

I had him for Grammar & Usage. If I didn't have a lot of prior grammar knowledge already, I think it would have been a good class. However, I felt as though the class went really slowly. It didn't challenge me at all. I was pretty disappointed. Should be okay if you don't have a lot of background in grammar.

He was a relatively sweet guy, he is from Africa so he has an interesting accent. Most of the time you had to come to class because he would have reading quizzes every day. Lots of reading too. The term paper was definitely a ten page pain in the butt!

Elhindi's Descriptive Linguistics class is difficult, but if you write well, study hard (I studied around 12 total hours for exams), actually read the book, and like English then you should do well. If you do not like English, but have an open mind to learning, you should do well (for non-majors). However, do not take if you desire an easy A.

He was very nice, even when you didnt have your paper he would let you turn it in late and not take off any points. He's pretty laid back. He does take roll every time class is held. As long as you do the journal entries you usually get full credit. Take his class!

Grammar is really boring, but Dr. Elhindi tried to make it as interesting as possible. He is very funny and a nice guy. Wants you to think and participate. He grades fairly easy, but the tests are somewhat difficult if you don't study!

Elhindi is awesome, he's very sweet and funny. He likes the students to do most of the talking, but he really knows his stuff. He's not one of those pretentious professors who expects you to put his class above all others. He's very supportive and interesting.

i'm not a huge literature fan so i figured world lit would be an interesting alternative to classical european writings. it is. yousif has a pretty good sense of humor and he's rather nice. there is quite a bit of reading and alot of quizes on the HISTORY of the texts as opposed to the analysis of them...which is a downside, but overall..good class
