If you can get past his thick accent he is really a great professor. His lectures are clear if you follow his work and pay less attention to what he is saying. He cares about the student's success and he tries to make the class as easy as he can. His tests are fair and he does a good homework review every class.

Wouldn't recommend at all. You can't understand him and he makes up his own words. He's trying but as soon as I heard him refer to google as"go-go" I was about to go go as well . Hard to understand but he seems to know what he's talking about. Smart, nice guy... get the book seriously

He's a great professor, sit up front, pay attention and you will get an A. If you actually listen to him you'll catch many of his jokes. He was awesome, and you'll always finish the semester with a higher grade than you would expect. He cuts the lowest test in half, and adds the extra credit essay. Really, really nice man.

Very experienced teacher. He has had over 50 years of teaching so he knows the ins and outs of what he's teaching. Listen closely to his lectures and ask questions on how to do the difficult HW questions.

Easy class. He answers any questions you have and is just nice overall. Don't get the book for survey of math. Never used it and never did the hw because he doesn't check it. He gives you a review that's identical to the test. Easy A for me.

Nice guy, at first thought I would never understand him though. Get used to accent after a few weeks, really wants you to pass gives out practice tests that are pretty close to the actual test so if you do those and study those you'll be fine. Should get at least a B

thought i was doomed at first, his accent is so thick & his english is funny.. but if you pay attention, take notes, study.. he only had 3 tests & reviewed before each one. i finally passed with a C thanks to some extra credit he did!

Prof. Xu is an interesting professor. He is very intelligent and knows the material in and out. He has three tests the third is always open notebook. He is a very sweet man sometimes he is hard to understand but will definitelt help you out if your reach out for help.Wouldnt say class is easy you must work for it.Class may be boring and hardtosome

I really truly disliked going to his class. He is not clear when it comes to homework, and the test structure is unfair! There are only 3 tests, and that's your entire grade!! Had him for Calc I, and finally dropped him for Calc II. Always told us that we could never pass his class, and talked down to us. If you actually want to learn take others!

i have him for calc 1 right now and he has 3 tests. that's it! he reviews thoroughly before each test. homework is not mandatory but i really recommend it, especially if youve never had calc before. you really NEED to go to class though, unless your a genius. my only negative is that he is difficult to understand sometimes. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

Prof. Xu is great, he knows Calculus like it's pre-algebra. He knows the book inside and out, all the questions. Definitely knows his math, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you want to learn Calculus thoroughly.

Took me a few days to get used to the accent. Some students it only took 20 min. He expects a lot out of you but grades fairly. He is very nice! Always asks if anyone has questions from homework! Always willing to help! I would recomend taking him!

great teacher, very helpful and just an overall nice man. he does speak broken english but he's not difficult to understand, and he teaches the material well. he also gives good extra credit opportunities. i failed this class the first time i took it and passed with a B+ when i re-took it with Xu.

I failed math the first time i took it a second time with him & passed hes the best teacher ever & Very helpful, if you dont understand he is willing to help you out. Hes also funny but very truthful. if your not going to pass you'll know it, he will try and help you pass though.

Very nice and understanding teacher. There for you if you need help. And yes.. while he may be a little hard to understand, he used repitition to clearly get his point across..and it WORKS! He's a great teacher, I would definitely recommend.
