Comment:

Prof Haft was the reason why I fell in love with Greek Myth! Very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. The class does require a lot of reading, but if you're into myth, it should be fun. Would recommend to anyone.

Before I took this course, the only thing I knew about mythology was from what I learned from the Disney cartoon Hercules. After, I took this course, I fell absolutely in love with Greek mythology. Professor Haft, was a big part of why I fell in love with Greek myth, shes super nice. A lot of reading, and writing for exams, and quizzes per week.

I was really disappointed in her stringency. She covers a lot in class and needs to make exceptions for those who have human memory banks and aren't robots. No leniency, no second chances.

Comment:

Expect tons of homework, quiz and tests. Learning Ancient Greek was not a breeze, but she taught it well. You have to come prepared for class and know the new vocabulary because you will have to translate the passages in class. If you have trouble with translating, she helps you and is understanding. She's a good professor but the class is hard.

She has weekly quizzes on the chapters, but they are SUPER easy (you'll see why when you take the class). Tests are very straightforward - just read the text, know your myths, and you're good. In all honesty, she truly is a wonderful professor. Her energy is infectious. Hated how it was in the morning because I'd fall asleep & miss out :

Dr. Haft is a great professor. She's really into what she teaches and makes the lectures fun and informative. If you want to do well, you must attend class and participate as well as read from the textbook. As long as you have a good understanding of the myths discussed in class, the test will be easy. Tests are essay format.

You need to actually do the reading but Prof. Haft is one of the sweetest, most interesting, helpful and fun professors that I've ever had. She's fabulous, take her!

I would have liked to party with her when she was in college. She seems like she would have been awesome in that setting. Honestly, if you're really into mythology and classics this is definitely the professor to take. You will work hard, but learn a lot. If you're kind of indifferent you should skip it. A lot of work for a 100 level course.

Professor Haft is very knowledgeable about Mythology, however the class can be very long and seem to go on forever. if you are not interesting in Greek Mythology enough you will find it very boring. When she says prepare 2 hours before class, you must or else you will be lost for the 4 exams she gives. She is willing to help you if you ask.

Reading the textbook is a MUST, and unlike many textbooks the one she uses is very straightforward and well organized. However if you will have to work HARD for an A. If you're a shy person, well you're going to have to participate to secure an A, without a doubt, even if you ace all the exams.

Yes her lectures can be boring but she makes an effort to encourage student participation and make the lectures more interesting. Quizzes are very straightforward, everything is on the book so you don't even have to pay attention in class. Do well in the exams and participate and show up and you got yourself an A, very easy class!

I love Professor Haft! She does an amazing job of teaching a language as difficult as Ancient Greek. There is homework due each class, quizzes, and 4 exams. She herself is not hard, but the language is hard, so don't expect an easy A. I highly, highly recommend her! It would help if you brush up on your English grammar before taking this class.

Shes so amazing and smart, shes a fair grader if you do the work. This is def my fave class. I can't wait to take 102 with her next semester. She is SO funny and interesting, I never get bored and find her easy to pay attention to. I recommend her 100%

Shes fair and puts all the notes on the board. You definitely need to review your notes to do well. However she speaks so softly that if you sit behind the first row you cant hear anything, im not even joking, and she is soo mundane and has a monotone voice throughout the whole period. basically its really boring but a somewhat easy A

she is so great! Her class is always entertaining and she knows what she's talking about. It's easy to see she loves her job and she is passionate about the subject and about teaching it. Great class. Highly recommended.
