Al was a really good teacher. We had a review day before every test. That was really helpful. If one needed extra help his office was always open and he was always willing to help.

Al is a wonderful professor. As a couple of others stated, you must show an interest and he does everything in his power to help. Those who gave him a poor review were either lazy or lacked the desire to better themselves and learn something!

Al does help students but he only helps students who are first willing to help themselves. If you put forth an effort first and then come to him with questions, he will definitely answer all of your questions. He also does expect a lot out of you, but he wants you to learn and to succeed. I got 2 research jobs because of him. :)

The course was organic chem. and the grade was the fifth highest in the class and was a 79.9. That tells the story. Of all the classes I have taken, next to Global Issues, this was the biggest waste of time.

I hated going to his labs when I took chemistry. He was very long winded when explaining everything and he didn't help at all, he just expected you to know what you were doing. I learned more from his aid Bliss than him.

Grades are based on attendance as much as examsby Dr. Conklin. He does give the test questions before the exam, but you must anwser verbatium or the exam is marked wrong. Dr. Conklin was by far the worst professor I have ever studied under. I repeted the class with Dr. Stilwell and I recieved a B.

The other student's ratings are unfair. Al is an awesome professor who is willing to help the students who want help. For Chem Majors he even lets you eat at his house twice a year. He is awesome. He is also demanding, but what good professor isn't? I learned a lot from Al.

Al tries his hardest to make everyone do badly in this class. He constantly made errors on the board, which further confused the students. A very very bad professor.

The subject matter is hard, but he gives you the exact test 2 weeks beforehand, so there's no excuse for bad grades. Labs aren't so great though, but how fun can a soils lab be?
