DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. I'm sure Radenski is a fine professor but his online assignment format and explanations make no sense. Even the school tutor had a hard time comprehending what he wanted out of the assignment. Final is 50% of the grade so beware.

Comment:

I was a bit nervous in the beginning about how an online course in computer science is going to work, but he had a special lab session in the very beginning and explained everything. Besides, he was always available for help and he is really knowledgeable. The course was great.

I liked the course long project where you do your own compiler extension. Lectures helped clarify topics that are not so well covered in the book. Ask him for help when stuck and you will be doing well.

Comment:

Radenski is one of the most knowledgeable computer professors. He expects you to read and study by yourself first but then he is ready to spend hours in his office helping you. He cares about his students and wants them to become the best they can be. Radenski gives extra credit for optional labs and projects which can be very helpful.

Dr. Radenski is very intellegent and cares about the progress of his students. Although he may hard to understand, the class is not difficult if you are somewhat smart and determined to learn how to program. Anyone who says he is a horrible teacher most likely just could not handle it.

It is for fear of another class with Radenski that is making me run away from future CPSC courses at Chapman. He is smart, but a horrible horrible teacher. According to him if you can't score high on tests you're a bad student. Avoid him if you can.

If you understand the subject matter, you understand him. If there is something you just don't get, you can't understand him. His english is still obviously a work in progress as he never understands anything anyone asks him. Study the slides.

I didn't understand one thing he ever tried to teach us. The final is worth 40% of your grade, and that's ridiculous considering he tested us on things that we never learned! Don't think about taking this class unless you already know java front to back.

most of the time i didn't know what the hell was going on...probably cause i didn't read the book. whenever i asked him something he would give me an answer that i didn't understand because his accent was horrible and his answer was even worse.

class is easy if you read the book, but if you pay attention the lectures you get lost cause he goes off on tangents and doesn't really explain things at all. one minute hes on java the next its about a dog or something, it makes for good entertainment.
