Difficult, mean. Worked my butt off and got a C. For the final paper, I spent a week and a half on it and still could not please her. That being said, the readings were interesting, although her tests were impossible.

Barb is extremely bright. He classes are a lot of work but I've never learned more than I have in all 3 of the courses I've taken with her. She's not the kind of professor to be your friend or baby you but she is a great professor nonetheless

Taking a class with Barb is frustrating because she does not act invested in the class. I have talked to many students who have expressed their discontent with Barb. She is by far the least popular proff. in the English department--it all starts with the "do not disturb" sign on the door. She does'nt give much and she's not afraid to show it.

Her class is extremely hard, you have to read her mind in order to pass. I remember I had been up pretty much all night working on a paper for Barb and the next day when I handed it in I was extremely tired and woozy as you could guess. Well, she was convinced I was under the influence of drugs or something and she told my RA. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS

Barb is challenging and she don't take no mess. She's one of the only people to ever force me to fulfill my potential. It meant working my ass off, but it was well worth it. I had her for class almost every semester I was at EC, and I never regretted it.

I have worked the hardest in the three Barb classes I took at Earlham and got two of the lowest grades I have earned in them. She is challenging, smart as a whip, and fun to be around. Her presence makes me want to be a better person.
