Comment:
Dr. Kramer is really knowledgable in his field. I had him for DSAO this semester and I can honestly say that it's one of the toughest classes I've had so far but it's also a class that I've learned a lot from. His projects are tough and his teaching style is kind of boring but if you put in the work you won't have a problem doing well in the class.

Disgustingly difficult. Complains about grading (never grades until the end), but yet has homework, semester project, and test scheduled for 3 days in a row. What a joke. Avoid at all costs

As the other reviews have said, yes Dr. Kramer is a tough professor and yes the projects are HARD, but definitely not "impossible". If you stick with it and you try the absolute hardest that you can try, you will be writing code that you wouldn't think you could write in a hundred years. DONT GIVE UP! (also, expect grades to take a while...)

I feel like he makes the subject kinda boring, might be the way he talks, course was informative but not much inclusive, he prob knows almost everything about c++ but not the best person at teaching that.

Dr. Kramer has been the best professor I have had in my time at YSU (4th year). You will hear from students that his projects are impossible, that he doesn't return grades fast enough and that there's "too much work" in the class. There is a lot of work in this class but if you apply yourself and take the time to study, you will gain a lot from it.

Good guy that wants to see you succeed but makes you work for good grades even if you have a good understanding of the subject matter beforehand.

The only way i can describe this is frustrating. Poured my soul into this class but it made me realize how tough this can really be. Kramer is definitely knowledgeable but cant seem to relay his knowledge to his students efficiently. DO NOT take him lightly. This class is hard, and its sink or swim. I realized that now.

This class was absolutely that hardest class ive taken in my life, I have been through rigorous courses but this one is terrible. Dosent grade till last month of the semester and the projects are impossible. Be warned, this is a very difficult class.

Dr. Kramer is by far the most difficult professor I have taken for my CS curriculum thus far, and for good reason. He focuses primarily on conceptual/theoretical topics in Computer Science, and assigns projects that test your abilities to implement those topics. Taking his CSIS 3700 is a great way to determine if you are serious about CS or not.

Rush him to grade and assign hw. He overestimates the length of a 15wk course. He will only help you in person, one on one. Don't waste your time with other students or online help. Visit him. It will save you hours. Do not let him discourage you from seeing him one on one. Report him early and often for deviating from syllabus. New Dept. chair*

Dr. Kramer is extremely intelligent. In this class, relates many of the ideas to life scenarios, making them easy to understand. Good class... except... The project is ridiculously hard. There are essentially NO resources online, you don't really learn the information you need in class, and you don't cover 95% of what you need to do for the proj.

Dr. Bob Kramer is the best professor and person that I've ever met in my adult life. We got along so well that I later had the pleasure of naming him the godfather to my children. Fantastic man.

Dr. Kramer is TOUGH. You shouldn't be worried about the tests because the projects are what is difficult. However, if you ask for help, it is there. Don't wait until the last minute to complete projects. Start on them the day they are assigned and you should be good.

Lectures are power points but then half way thru the semester stops making power points and just talks. Labs aren't helpful at all because he just goes and doesn't really explain well. Hard to understand if you don't know much about programming

THE BEST!We came out of the class knowing way more than others who have taken it with different instructors. I highly recommend this man if you want to truly understand things to come. The projects are appropriately challenging and enjoyable. Other students commented on errors made in class, these are made to show why certain practices are wrong.

He is, by far, my favorite professor here. "Welcome to hell" is his welcome statement and "torturing cs students" is his speciality according to him and other professors, but I just don't see that. Show up to class, pay attention, especially in labs, and ask for help as soon as you need it. Listen up, you will learn a lot from this guy.

He's the reason I have a career instead of a job today. I was ready to give up before I took his class. He was the first to explain data structures in a way that actually made sense (after three previous professors forced me to Withdraw). And the techniques I learned along the way made the higher level courses a breeze.
