Took him at Fairfield and he was awesome! Loved all his lectures and didn't think his essays were tough. I would meet with him briefly after class with an outline and he would help me out. His tests are 30 MC and 1 essay - easy to pass if you take notes on the powerpoints. I never read for this class. Just skim over the PSR(s). Definitely take!!

Comment:

Russo is one of my favorite professors at SHU. He is always there to answer any questions you may have. Make sure you keep up with the readings and ask any questions so you don't fall behind. Once you fall behind, it is very hard to get back on track. Lectures are dry but if you constantly meet with him, he will see you're putting the effort in

Mr. Russo teaches a pretty dry class, history has never been extremely captivating for me, but he cracks a lot of jokes. When writing his one page essays he wants you to get right to the point and answer whatever question you choose. He's very passionate about his teaching, but he doesn't give a grading rubric so it was hard to write his papers.

Comment:

Professor Russo is very funny, and teaches in a passionate and interesting way. His exams are multiple choice and one essay, with a choice between two essay topics (which he tells you before hand). I NEVER used the textbook; his lectures cover the material sufficiently. He's great!

Took his class at FU. Makes his FU class harder than his SHU class. Study for the midterm and do well on the papers. He'll love you if you participate and pretend to be interested. Boring class. Take him if you really have to and have no other choice.

I took him at Farirfield University but I had NO interest in the subject before this class. His lectures are enticing and I'm now deciding whether or not to be a history minor. When you first go into his class you think its going to be lame but hes actually really cool and LOVES when you ask for help/questions. His essays are also not hard at all

Such an amazing professor, in fact, my favorite so far. If you approach him with questions, or ask for help on a paper, he is very helpful. He LOVES his job, and makes many (hysterical) side remarks throughout his lessons. Sometimes the exams are challenging, but if you pay attention and read the primary sources, it's an easy A.

Really good teacher will help when need it. If you read the book and the slides when you study you will do fine on your test he gives you 2 essays you choose from before the test. Primary sources help a lot if you go to him he will you help him. You should take him he was easier than the other teachers my friends had and he give you acurve onexams

He is a great teacher. However, he is NOT easy. Throughout the course you are expected to write journal entries based on the primary sources. It is very difficult to receive full credit, as his grading is unfair. Also tests are very hard. There is never a review, and the average for each test was about a 77. Overall, this course was not easy.

Best teacher I have had thus far, there is a lot of reading to do in this class but he makes everything flow so easily and crystal clear. He knows his stuff very well and is very into the class whether you are or not I would definetlty reccomend taking him for human journey your freshmen year good stuff!

Truly a good teacher. Smart, funny, makes the class real interesting. One of the top three best teachers I ever had! Take him, you will be happy you did.
