Taught with Veige at the same time. One of the worst classes I've ever taken. Not sure why the professors thought constantly switching was a good idea. As a result there's no consistency in terms of exams or quizzes. Bad lecturer and is condescending. The final is a ridiculous 40% and I feel like I have to constantly be studying just to pass.

Dr. Talham is a great professor! He is super easy to contact outside of class and gets back to you pretty quickly. His lenient grading scale makes it easier to pass. The class itself is very hard, but it is doable with StudyEdge! The StudyEdge tutor for Chem 2 is Rich, and he makes it super easy to understand chemistry and pass the class.

His tests the entire semester were very fair, that was until the final. The final honestly was not representative of what happened the entire semester, and the reason why my grade dropped 10 points. Over all the class was fair, but that final was a surprise for everyone.

TEXTBOOK PROBLEMS ARE EVERYTHING. The grade for this class is on three quizzes, three exams, and a final. YOU CANNOT SLACK OFF ON ANYTHING. There are no extra credit opportunities but the grade scale is pretty lenient. If you read the chemistry textbook, yes i know its chemistry, you will pass all assignments. The structure of the class is simple

I really enjoyed this class! Professor Talham gave VERY fair exams; anyone who says different clearly wasnt paying attention. Of course the class is hard, its chemistry. Dont expect to get an A without studying lol duh! He a very nice person 10/10 would recommend :)

Best Chemistry Professor Ive had at UF! Super interesting, and the tests are straight forward. Ive had science professors that ask trick questions galore, and so its refreshing to have a professor that cares about what hes doing and the kind of education he bestows unto pupils. Love him and so glad I was in his section. Learned a lot!

Buckle up. It's an insane amount of material that honestly is up to you to learn because they only skim the surface in the lectures. They ask super specific questions on the exam that you need to read the textbook to know. Your life will be nothing but chemistry for the whole semester. The first half of the semester is A LOT easier than the second.

Talham is a good lecturer; he uses clear notes and uploads them to Canvas at the end of each unit. The quizzes are a little difficult, but the exams are not super difficult. If you go to lecture and discussion and pay attention, it's relatively easy to get a good grade.

Talham cannot lecture to save his life. He talks incredibly quietly, and no one can read his handwriting so you are struggling to keep up with his notes, as it's essentially a guessing game as to what they say. He doesn't know how to explain things more than one way, so if you're confused, you're pretty much screwed.

Best chemistry professor at UF. Not an easy class at all, but he does a great job of preparing you for exams. Work is necessary outside of class to do well in the class, but no homework is assigned.

Great lecturer and professor. Only teaches you what you need to know and nothing else more. Quizzes and Tests are straight forward, but the final is killer. Take inorganic with him if you can, it will be worth the wait.

Talhammmmm, my man!!! What a gem of a professor! I had him for inorganic chemistry and it was one of my favorite classes! Sure, inorganic chemistry can be hard, but this man made it worth reading the textbook, looking over his notes, and studying for the exams. He truly made this class enjoyable. His exams are VERY fair, so worth it!!

Amazing professor. Cares about his students. The class is not easy, yet it is doable to get a good grade. Requires lots of time and effort. Professor is helpful in office hours and makes the infomation clear and easy to understand. Be careful of careless mistakes. Class is interesting and challenging.

Currently enrolled in his Inorganic course and he is absolutely amazing. Yes, you will need to study. Yes, the exams can be a bit tricky. It's all about the time you put into studying. He's a great lecturer and you should focus on studying the hw (not graded) he assigns. He's very helpful during office hours as well. 10/10

Dr. Talham is the best professor I have had at UF. Had him for Chem 2. If you expect an easy A then don't take him. He will make you work for your grade, but be fair in doing so. Acknowledging that his class was hard, he changed the grading scale to about an 84 being an A. The downside is that he travels, but that is expected for a tenured prof.

Not helpful at all. He left on two trips during the semester and did not care at all. Study edge and his class notes barely helped either.

Talham went to chemistry seminars around the world, in his absence the TA would take over the course. The TA sucked at lecturing. Talhams lectures are very interesting though. He doesn't use power points. I finished with an 83, which is an A. One Important thing; Use Study Edge as supplement if you wish, not as a learning tool. Understand the notes

Talham is a great guy, but thinks we are geniuses. He made the final very hard but because the average was pretty low, he changed the grade scale to help us out a bit, I had an 82 which was an A- in his class, so yes its hard but the scale makes up for it. I studied so hard for each exam but every exam was very difficult, and he covered more topics

Dan took the last two weeks of the semester off when material was taught (by TAs) that would make up 35% of the final exam. Tests were hard. Study at least a week in advance and read the text book. He is not a horrible man or teacher, hes just harder than other professors.. (he covered two more chapters than the other chem 2 class.)
