Comment:
Teaches pchem through powerpoint (?), and lecture slides are pulled directly from his textbook. The book is neither clear nor concise in it's explanations which made this class significantly more difficult than necessary. Doesn't do such a great job in a lecture setting, however, he was very accessible via office hours which was very helpful.

Out of touch and unable to explain the material at an introductory level to students. PChem is difficult, but the learning curve in this class was way too high. Tests us on material that he didn't really cover. Very difficult to find outside resources to get a better understanding of material. I'd try to get an easier prof is possible.

Dr. Waldeck is by far the worst professor that I have had during my time here at Pitt, for sheer fact that he did not teach one day during this entire course. I went into this course really wanting to learn and like quantum, but he has ruined nearly all of chemistry for me. He tests on material that is not covered anywhere and is completely unfair.

Comment:
The course is unnecessarily difficult and frustrating at times as homeworks can be extremely ambiguous and lectures are long often with typos. However, if you work hard, do practice problems, ask for help, and learn from your mistakes an A is definitely attainable, something I would have not believed possible mid-way through the semester.

The class is difficult and you must work hard to get a good grade or pass, but you will learn a lot and he will make sure that you learn. The exams are fair and you may earn points back on the tests by going over your mistakes with him. Homeworks can be long and difficult. A very fair professor. Alway available and glad to help.

One of the worst professors I have ever had, and I've had a lot of them. Almost quit the chem major because of him. Did not set expectations. Impossible to determine what one ought to study. eg. learned 3d particle in a box, but tested on "define the Frank Condon Principle". A bad teacher. I went on to a PhD in Chem - no thanks to him.

Very hard classes but not impossible. If you work hard and seek help when needed (which is most of the time) you will pass with no problems. Very fair guy who gives you multiple oppourtunities to help your grade. Homeworks are rediculously hard and exams are long, but in the end it feels good knowing that you conquered the Mt. Everest of academia.

This class was very hard, but he made sure that the difficulty of the course would not make us all fail. As long as you tried, you passed. This made me concentrate more on learning. Only thing, he gave us an incomplete book; really not ready for students. Homeworks were also ridiculouslly hard.
