Comment:

I think he is probably a great guy, but his class is so confusing. If you dont understand he tells you to look at the textbook THAT HE WROTE and therefore makes no sense as well. He isnt clear on assignments and gives no opportunity or grace for late work, even if you were sick.

Comment:

I respect Dr. Fledderjohann as a man of God, but his class was very unorganized and hard to follow. We would be sent emails with assignments a few days before they were due, and it was not a lot of time to do the work. He grades very harshly, so it makes passing the class difficult. He also did not cover all of the material that was on the exams.

Comment:

Quizzes are not easy, but only make up a small portion of grade. Online exams are open book. Studying the Bible is incredibly engaging in this class. Really enjoyed going through 1 Peter! The teaching part has you in group projects which is always a hit or miss. There is a lot of work, but it's a 4 credit course so what'd you expect!

Comment:

Dr. Fledderjohann was a good teacher for Studying and Teaching the Bible. He wrote one of the textbooks, so he knows his content rather well. The process of working through a book of the Bible (in my case, Ephesians) was an interesting process. The team teaching at the end was enjoyable overall. I personally liked the class and recommend it.

His project criteria is very vague, but his grading is difficult. I would not suggest taking his studying and teaching the Bible course. He teaches you what you need to know after he grades you on it. Also, his lectures are boring.

He gives a lot of work, but if you just manage your time it's really not that much. We worked through a book of the Bible, pulling it apart and learning all we could about it. Then we, in a group, taught a lesson on that book. He is really helpful and will do anything he can to assist you.

Don't even bother signing up for his 8AM STB class. It's a total drag and not worth the hard work. You can't make up any late homework or quizzes, which means you pretty much can't cut class without taking a giant grade reduction. Instruction on homework was not good at all. Find a better prof.

Dr. Fledderjohann requires students to actually participate in class and put forth the effort. You can learn alot from this class if you apply yourself. If you put forth the effort you will get an A or B. He is a solid guy. I definitely recommend him. I am pretty sure he has less coursework than other prof's courses.

I very much enjoyed his course. I took multiple courses from him and learned alot. His quiet personality and sometimes softspoken should not be interpreted as a lack of passion. He was always able and willing to take the extra step to help me understand God, his word, and to communicate it to others. He teaches with purpose, not for teachings sake.

Dr. Fledderjohann was a fantastic professor. I took Studying and Teaching the bible via distance through him. He was helpful, informative, and clear and concise on what he expected and how I was to be graded. Fantastic professor!

Comment:

Very good teacher who brings not only alot of knowledge, but experience. I took 3 of his courses and would take them over again. He is really interested in helping student to be successful in their long-term teaching ministry. As a result, he holds his students to a high standard. He has a quite personality and very detail-orientated.

I'm sure he's a smart man, but as a teacher in a classroom he is incapable of explaining his assignments to his students so that they would understand...I thought I was the only one who was frustrated with his teaching, but everyone who I talked to regretted being in his class. STAY AWAY

I had him for Studying/Teaching the Bible. I highly recommend not taking him for this class. The content is pretty good. He usually does half powerpoint lectures and half group activity. Nice guy, not a very good teacher. Pretty easy grader if you do everything right and on time. You NEED to take Peter Worral or Michael Orr.

Word of warning: Don't take this class at 8am. He gives pop quizes on things you don't even remember. He's a little anal with the way he grades...a pretty OCD guy. Details really matter to him. I didn't really care for his teaching style. And he has such a soft voice that really puts you to sleep.
