Comment:
Prof. Hubin's class was a pretty good one. There's a midterm, a final, and an 8-10 page term paper. A lot of the material is pretty boring. Be ready to spend an entire semester comparing axiological and deontological ethical theories. Hubin definitely encourages his students to think for themselves, but he makes his opinions known.

It won't be the easiest thing you have ever done in your life, nor the hardest, but I'd recommend Dr. Hubin for any course he teaches. Especially since this particular course is required of all Philosophy majors, I'd definitely take it with him. Very nice guy and extremely clear and helpful.

Great teacher. Took him for political philosophy. He really cares, enjoys teaching, understands the material without tilting the discussions towards his own personal position (i.e. is honest with the material and treats it neutrally), and does a great job of presenting it all sides of a topic. There should be more like him. Good chess player too.

Don Hubin is one of the best professors I have ever hard. He is a genuinely nice guy and loves to teach (or does a damn fine job of faking it). His lectures are entertaining and he makes it very easy to prepare for tests. Keep up with the readings, do your term paper early and you are good to go. He also likes to talk a lot about cougars. :)

Took his class for Fall 08' quarter. It is a pretty interesting course if you are in to thinking. He is very approachable and a genuinely nice guy. He gives outlines on what he wants you to know for his exams. I thought his exams were on the tougher side because of the T/F questions that are worded tricky. Fortunately, he give extra credit.

Dr. Hubin is great. As a freshman, I was always worried how college classes would actually work. The way professor Hubin presents the material is freshman-friendly way so that success is attainable if you put the effort into it.

Dr. Hubin's great. Like the other review said, *crystal* clear. Helpful handouts. Pretty funny, too. The only drawback was the class getting a bit sidetracked at times, but still... highly recommended.

Crystal clear, always willing to discuss further (though this can get him in trouble towards the end of the quarter, approachable. Do the reading, take notes (including on the innumerable and immensely helpful handouts), and PAY ATTENTION! You'll have a blast.

Hubin is a great teacher. He's invariably clear and engaging in lecture and gives extensive exposition on his handouts, so you spend your time actually thinking about the material instead of just trying to understand it. I took 431 only b/c it was required for the major, but ended up loving it. Definitely one of my favorites in the department.

Makes outlines and handouts that make it easier to pay attention to discussion instead of just taking notes, exams could be hard but if you prepared well they weren't too bad.
