He is a good professor. All his tests are essay tests, and he gives the essay questions at the beginning of the course. You will always get a choice. There are 6 tests including the finals. Its not that hard if you practice the essays before hand. His TA grades leniently.

The tests may seem difficult at first, but he tells you EVERYTHING hes looking for. His helpfulness is the best thing as he is always available to answer questions and will do everything he can to make sure you get a good grade. He gave me an I instead of a D, and let me retake an exam the next semester and ended up with a B. Would highly recommend

A good professor that seems to care about his students. Always available to answer questions. Tests aren't easy, but they could be a lot worse and once you're used to his grading style it gets easier, he tells you to use the full hour on test days: DONT leave early, he will make note of it! He has a dry, sarcastic humor and had me near tears in laughter on one or two occasions. Go to class, take notes and make an effort to show you are engaged in lecture and he will reward you for it.

The class itself is easy its a chill class just come talk about assigned reading and you should be good. There is an attendance grade so come. You have a book review. A few other easy assignments i.e. printing off sources, library day.. he grades that stuff. The research paper(15pages) is 50%.I made an A in his class. This was my 1st research pp.

I took him for an upper level history class. Was the most boring history classes I have ever taken. He writes lots of notes on the board and his handwriting is awful. His essays are difficult to write. Only history class I got a B in. Very dry & boring teacher he does not make history come alive or seem interesting.I'm a History major

Very difficult to read him. He gives regular tests as essays only on book readins and not on class notes, and grades like an english teacher. But midterm and finals are based on class notes and not books. Hard to reconcile when to NOT use class notes as most of them are out of the books anyway. He knows his material but is not very personable.

He doesn't follow the book so you've got to go to class. He will answer any questions you have. Mid-Term and Final are hard! He grades tough on those two so you have to know your stuff.

I would recommend anyone taking him to check out reviews from critics on his published work. This class is for verbatim memory testing. Understanding the subject matter and showing you read the information only gets you between and c-b. He does seem to genuinely care about his students. Got away from paper, now is 40% essay too as final

He has a very dry sense of humor, but he gets down to what is important. He gives assistance to those he knows are trying and he gives frank, constructive criticism on papers. He truly cares about his students. I would def. take another course from him.

nice professor, but his lectures are really monotone. you should take notes during the lecture (besides the outline on the board) and you won't need the textbook. you have to read 3 history novels and write an essay on each. midterm and final are essays too. i procrastinated and still made an A :)

15 page paper is 50% of your grade. You can turn it in early, and he will revise it. I made a B in the class, but it took almost a month to finish that paper. Class is boring, and all you talk about are indians.
