St. John is a cool and very opinionated guy. He very liberal and is not afraid to show it. I did not like the class at first but it grew on me as time went by. I have definitely become a better writer because of his class.

Professor St. John is great!! For his writing seminar, I only had to write 4 big papers and we had to read the New York Times every day. Most of the class is based on the NYT and I really enjoyed it. He's very liberal and outspoken and his class is a blast!!

I really enjoyed Dr. St. John even though some of the discussions made me uncomfortable. We had 2 tests and 2 papers. I didn't think the class was difficult but I did all of the reading. The books he picked out for us were interesting. The only thing I didn't like about him is that he will call on students and put them on the spot.

Dr. St. John is so nice!!! His essays are SO easy! You have to read, and come to class, but that's it. I put forth no effort and still made a B. He is such a funny and interesting guy.

Dr St John is hard. You have to do the reading, you have to go to class and participate because test questions will come from class discussions. But the papers and tests aren't impossible, and class is interesting because it's all discussion based and he's funny. He really makes you think and challenges you as a reader and writer; I love his class

Dr. St. John is an awesome teacher despite what people have said. The reading is great-you just have to buckle down and do the reading. He makes you think and thoroughly explains what he expects for your papers. I got all As on the papers and exams. It's soooo easy to pass this class...if you don't,you should drop out.

Dr. St. John is quite a character. He gives a ton of reading and most of the stuff is BOR-ING and if you don't read be prepared to be EMBARASSED!!!!!! He actually makes you think though, so the class is worthwhile.

Dr. St. John gives a lot of reading each night and while he challenged me to think deeper about literature, I still felt like his tests and paper gradings didn't make sense. Be prepared to read a lot and if you don't, be prepared for him to make a fool of you in front of the entire class. I felt bad for the people that happened to. Don't take him!

he is a very hard teacher! he gives A LOT of READING, an impossible amount if you are taking any other class but his. his grading if very unfair. he doesnt give higher than a C on any paper, not matter how good it is. if you dont like to read, then definately dont take his class. he expects graduate level work out of soph.!!!

Dr. St. John is a fabulous teacher. Although you have to read, the books are very interesting and he explains them well. Attendance is mandantory, and there is a small oral presentation, but it is no big deal. Best teacher I've had here!

St. John is teh most interesting teacher I've ever had. He's taught in China for years and really knows (first hand) what he's talking about. My class had dinner at his house and it was AWESOME! Take his class if you want a teacher with a passion for his subject.

He is one of my favorite teachers, but I enjoy reading. You MUST read everyday to take this class. Discussions are always intresting, and can get fun. The books are good too. He is a wierd grader, just kinda throws out a letter, with little explanation as to why.

If you arent going to read then dont take his class. I read everything there was to read, but still felt uncomfortable going to class. He will call you out to answer questions so be prepared. You have 2 papers and an oral presentation. HAVE FUN!! :( (class sucks)

Dr. St. John is a good teacher. He's a very nice man. We had to read interesting books(about 4 or 5) and write 2 essays. The midterm and final was essay-based but not hard at all. You'll do fine if you keep up with the readings. He's one of the best english professors!
