Very harsh grader and lectures are very boring. The class is READING HEAVY and it is truly rushed through. Pop quizzes every now and then about specific readings and are very detailed. He puts you on the hotseat if you don't participate or if he THINKS you dont read. Papers were complex. Overall his classes stressed me out and caused much anxiety.

Professor Hagan is very tough with grading. He goes through each book with haste and to get good participation you NEED to speak in class everytime youre there. Pop quizes are going to happen every week too so be warned! Pop quizes take up a lot of your grade percentage so if you aren't good at test taking, this might not be the class for you :(

Absolutely awful. Monotone, tired, BORING! Wish I had checked his ratings. Its more of a reading class than writing, books like The Odyssey, Hamlet, etc. Says you cannot miss a class even for a death of a parent/you cannot go to the bathroom as he finds it distracting. His way or the highway all the way. Bizarre man. Not in the cute way.

This guy is awful. He assigns your seats in class, won't let you get up in the middle of class, completely disrespectful to anyone who doesn't think the same way he does, and will try to make you look like a fool of he doesn't like you.

Comes off as grouchy, really a genuinely good guy. Respects students who respect him. Come to class, do the readings, and pay attention and you'll be fine. Reading heavy but not too bad if you stay on top of it. Very helpful with feedback and allows extensions on every paper except the final. Funny sense of humor once you get to know him

Easily one of my best professors. Strongly recommend visiting him during office hours! He seems intimidating at first but is great once you get to know him. His classes are reading heavy but the material is broken up. He's flexible about deadlines and will help if you're struggling. Participate and get to know him and you'll be just fine! Great guy

extremely rude man. constantly interrupts his students by yelling and teaches concepts that are so hard to comprehend you cant even form a paper on it. do not recommend taking this class. the questions you are supposed to write the papers on are not comprehend-able what so ever.

He has graduate assistants, but pops in from time to time. Very helpful lectures when he does stop by and is available for help outside of class. The graduate assistant I had was also very cool. Grading is very clear and if you do the work, you'll be fine.

Not even the real teacher, has assistants teach for him. When he comes to class he makes everything more difficult. A lot of essays and a lot of reading.

The class itself is interesting, but the teacher is not the best one for it. He requires that all opinionated papers follow his opinion only and not your own, and his lectures drag so it's hard for students to stay interested. He's a harsh grader. I wouldn't suggest taking a class with him unless it's required.

Always took time to read my work, carefully--that's probably the first time that happened to me, namely, at WCSU. Always willing to share, readily, helpfully, his knowledge of Irish Literature, especially the Renaissance. Didn't teach Portrait for course ("Harder than U.": hard to believe) yet covers U. well. Good l of r's; forgets former students.

He expects a lot from his students and you need to do the reading to pass his quizzes but you will not learn more from another professor at this school. He truly cares about his students and though he comes off tough at first is really a super friendly, helpful and understanding professor. 10 out of 10 would take a class with him again.

Hagan is actually a good teacher. At first, I really hate him. I hated how he taught with the slides and excessive use of Blackboard but it became helpful. If you listen and pay attention to his lectures and take notes, his quizzes and essays are a breeze. He's willing to help his students as long as you're not lazy. It's just A LOT of reading.

Do not let Prof Hagan scare you! He comes off very strong but is a good professor who will get you to think. Hard grader but allows corrections. Willing to help & always answers emails. I thought this class was going to be terrible but I really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed Dr. Hagan! He clearly repeats the important information over and over again so that we get it in our heads! He isn't available for extra help since he has younger instructors who do that for him which is even better because the instructors are super nice and really want to help you.

Only had him for Monday lectures. Hes very boring and posts the slides on blackboard, so lectures aren't too important. Syllabus is CONSTANTLY changing and work load is fairly heavy. We had five papers ranging from fairly easy to incredibly hair-pulling difficult. Not a good professor.

this professor was a very uncaring person. he always treated the class as if we were ignorant to society and he gave me poor grades because i didnt agree with him on one thing in the beginning of the semester. his grading was very difficult and we had to read a different NOVEL every 2 weeks. hes right n ur always wrong. hes very opinionated, no fun

He was just the section instructor on Mondays and I had a separate teacher on Wednesdays and Fridays.I never went to his lectures because they were useless. My section instructor never followed by his syllabus because it was tedious and repetitive. All of his papers were based on Facebook and my section instructor often gave out other essay options.
