If u have prior photo experience (DSLR), this class will be fun and easy! Tests were a breeze for me. Fred was one of my favs this semester. You WON'T regret taking him & will be able to confidently develop film by semester's end. (You don't need the contrast filters or thermometer.) Only complaint was slightly unclear grading criteria. Take him!

One of the best professors I've had! He is 100% open to helping you through the course and makes connections with his students. Extremely knowledgable and experienced in film and photography. The material is difficult and wet photography can be aggravating, but he will help you through it! Definitely take the course with Fred!

This was a great class, every project/lecture was thoroughly planned. He gives good feedback and is almost always available for one-on-one help and is open to all ideas. Easy to understand, lectures and assignments are not extremely difficult if you put in enough effort. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed, would recommend.

Hes pretty cool if you talk with him and have a voice. Pretty tough grader and the class was alot of work. Be ready to spend ALOT of time in the photo lab. You have 2 tests and no final which is great. Pass the tests, which are easy if you read and listen to his lectures, do an Ok job on your photos and you will pass. Dont let him intimidate you

So Fred is a difficult guy to get a long with. But the key to passing his class is asking as many questions as possible in regards to his photo assignments. He leaves a lot of info out. Be creative with what you turn in. He is critical on that. Minimalism is another thing. Max of 3-4 things in each your pics. Tests are confusing but there's only 2.

I really Kuretski as a person; he's very nice and helpful, although he's a tough grader when it comes to pictures and he can be vague with some of his evaluations. Just pay attention to what he lectures, practice with the camera you use, think outside the box, and you should pass.

If you know you are getting this teacher switch with another one or just drop the class especially if you are hoping to get into the film option. I learned mostly thanks to classmates and friends. His lectures are very unclear and he rarely shows you how to manipulate the camera. He never explains how he grades your pictures either. Just avoid him.

He's really prepared to teach this class. His own work is excellent and really draws you in. He doesn't lecture from the book. His Open Labs are great. He is always available for one on one teaching. Take this course!

Good guy, but really bad at critiques. Mandatory for mounting all your pictures, very useless and waste of time and space for critiques. I would personally avoid him, for the lack of skill you might obtain in that class.

Class consists of 2 tests, 1 extra cred test, and 4 photo assignments (3-4 pics ea). Assignments are graded on technical aspects (over artistic). The book is an easy read and he covers almost all the information in class. This guy KNOWS HIS STUFF. A little impatient, but a very sweet, VERY helpful man. Go to class, pay attention, & ASK FOR HELP!!!

whoever said if you don't like his class you shouldn't be in film is out of their mind? I'm sorry but I have a great passion for filmmaking and I was very eager to learn some basics but unfortuanately I learned nothing. Reading the book is where I acquired any real knowledge. Not from his stupid lectures about not getting married or doing crack

he is such a horrendous teacher. he teaches nothing for the first 3/4 of the semester then tries to cram you with kelvin temp and camera movement in the last two weeks. doesn't teach anything about the projects you have to do, you're on your own. he's not hard, just annoying. make sure your group film is a simple story.

This Professor is soooo aggravating! Why? He doesn't teach---he just lectures about whatever makes him feel fulfilled. I think he likes to hear the sound of his voice cause he goes on and on...I am not a slacker student---i have done well in all my film classes---but I worry about this one...a lot.

If you did not like his class you should not be in film, he is very clear and uses great examples to explain complicated things. I learned a lot about film production in his class, and though his tests are a bit hard he really wants you to know this stuff WHICH YOU NEED TO LEARN IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE IN FILM!

Horrible Horrible teacher. Likes to brag about his photography, the aerosmith videos he directed and the made for tv movies with sally struthers. Gives lectures about ba-na-nas and jag-u-ars, not film prod. Does not "teach" anything. Learned more about production at community college. Waste of time.
