Although he was very passionate about what he was teaching, I do not think he was a good teacher. Grading criteria and instructions werent clear to me. He told us all that we wouldnt pass the first test and that was normal - if thats normal he should change the way he gives tests. There were only 2 or 3 questions chosen from 1 months reading

I took two of his classes back on 2004. In conversation recently, a group of us were discussing college faculty we liked/appreciated. Nevin Crouse will always be atop my list. Fantastic, engaging teaching style, that is entertaining. I'd recommend this class for leisure, and that's non lie. Some of his personal stories are a little much though.

I have taken 3 classes from prof Crouse, HIS 131 ( World Civ 1) HIS132 (world Civ 2) and HIS101 (US history). He is great at what he does, he knows exactly what he is talking about and will make class so interesting. If you actually pay attention to his lectures, participate in them, and understand, it is more of a discussion and a great one.

Absolutely wonderful! I loved every minute of his lectures. Tests are hard (this is college!) but that doesn't mean students can't earn an A. Make sure to read all the assigned readings and if you're confused, ask questions. Reading the textbook and the other readings will ensure success! Professor Crouse is awesome!

I took Western Civilization from Mr. Crouse, probably 12 years ago. I loved it, it was like storytime, but the stories were stranger than fiction because it all really happened! The French Revolution and the Crimean War really stuck out, and I still remember him bringing in brioche for us all to try. Awesome professor!

Professor Crouse is extremely passionate about history, and extremely knowledgeable and intelligent on the subject. He was one of the most inspiring college professors I've ever had, actually. There were several times I left his lectures feeling mind-blown because of the new concepts he introduced.

He knows his stuff! You will learn a lot by taking his class. He expects a lot out of each of his students. If you work hard he sees it and determines his grading based on your achievement throughout the semester. Not an easy class. Take many notes!

He was a horrible professor. He became really behind the course work, was unable to communicate via email very well, and his quizzes (which are basically tests) are full of random information and are not consistent with course material. If you're failing try and meet with him. Try and take the in-class course rather than the online course.

Definetly one of the best professors at Chesapeake College. He almost indirectly forces you to teach yourself the material but strangely enough because of his unique teaching style you WANT to learn the information. I'm serious when I say everybody should definetly have this professor at least once (an easy A if you show up to class and give input.

Nevin is extremely passionate and expects the same from his students. Definately a lecture style class but you rarely turn**** in, and most of the time your just getting a glimpse into the mind of Chesapeake's brightest professor for an hour and 15 minutes. (Chesapeake contrary to popular belief, does have smart faculty!)

I loved Mr. Crouse's class so much that I wanted to come back and take every history course possible with him. He has very interesting lectures, extremely intelligent, funny, hard, but fair grader, and lets you do quizzes in groups. His tests are pretty hard, but as long as you study and listen to him, you'll do just fine.
