i took AP science classes all throughout high school and this class was the WORST. Very rude professor, the lectures are just outlines, very dry not interactive and to full of himself. Ended up withdrawing from the class and took it again with a different professor because of how badly i was doing even WITH studying and asking for add. help.

Excellent teacher, pay attention in class, take notes, and do a study group if you don't understand, and you will be fine.

Lectures are just outlines of chapters. Labs are basically on your own. Hard to get ahold of outside of class. Quizzes every Thursday on same day material or class before. Tests are 65mc& 5 short answer. One research project. Never posts to canvas. Rarely shows grades.

Tells students that for every credit hour, 3 hours is required per week outside of class to be successful in the class. so roughly 12 hours per week on one course, taken for general ed. First test average was a 60, next was around 70, 10 kids dropped mid way through tests are 75 multi choice, 6 written response and 7 chapters each. did not enjoy.

If you're a kinesthetic learner avoid taking this class. If you're an auditory or visual learner then you'll probably have an easy time. Labs have very little direction and you're left on your own. There is extra credit, but it's out of class. Beware of trying to meet up with him. He's got a very small opening in office hours.

If you are not planning on majoring in a Bio field, I do not recommend taking this course. Tests are long and difficult. Reading the textbook is a requirement, even then you may not be prepared for the tests. You must be on the tips of your toes if you're planning on taking this course.

Avoiedd. non-science majors beware. 75 question multiple choice tests with 6 written response. 7 chapters per test, no drops, assigns homework upon homework, gives pop quizzes. lectures consist of bullet power points that outline chapters. not inspiring at all. cold and dry. 10 kids dropped, 3 have a's rest scared of 12 chapter cumulative final.

Wonderful Professor! I was incredibly intimidated at the beginning of the semester and failed the first exam. Meeker truly cares for his students and is very consistent. I ended up setting the curve and walked away with an A and didn't have to take the final exam. I am so thankful for how clear and honest he is, and I learned a TON this semester.

Absolutely AWESOME professor. The first exam was kind of difficult because it was hard keeping up with his Power Points, but he started putting all his PP's on Dropbox so you could go back and review after classes and pick up notes that you missed which was awesome. Lab is super great too, he's VERY willing to help if you have any questions.

Such a cool guy! Love his teaching philosophy. Very fair, very consistent. He keeps you informed on exactly what to expect - no surprises. His lectures are awesome, and he knows his stuff! People seem to think he's hard, but hey, this is college and this is biology. Study hard and you'll be fine. TAKE HIM!!

Meeker is a nice guy, but I have never gotten below a B until this class. The first 3 exams were written by the book company, and he admitted they were too difficult for gen bio, exam 4 he wrote, which everyone fine. The grades remained for first 3. No review, no clearity in what will be on exams. Disorganized course, nice guy, take someone else.

Awesome guy, funny funny! Boring subject but he does a good job of xplaining. Hard subject to follow. I finished with a B, hardest B ive gotten. Alot of reading chapters and reading chapters. All lectures are powerpoint. Labs are fun and chill, easy 50 points for that. Down side, no reviews for tests, he expects you to do it by yourself.

Our whole class loved Meeks personality. I thought our labs were too long and confusing with very little direction. In classes we watched powerpoints of the textbook while he talked. Not necessary to be in class to learn. Still, he curves to help you out and he REALLY hooked us up on the final. I got a B, average grade was a C.

He is such a nice guy- not an easy teacher. If you want an easy A you should not take him. He is very fair though and extremely personable and funny. He just will not spoon feed any of his students so you must do a lot of work and stay on top of it if you want to pass.

Meeker is a pretty cool professor. Tests are all multiple choice. The quiz grades and group project help greatly, and he curves everything. Labs can get long, but they arent bad. Probably one of the most fair teachers at SFC.
