Amazing prof. This is an easy class that most students who are complaining about are the ones who paid no attention and didn't follow instructions on their essays. If you followed the basic outline and paid attention in class you were practically guaranteed an 80.

Don't get me wrong the professor is super knowledge literally anything and everything will come from her own knowledge she does not look at notes or anything. However, do go to class or you will struggle to pass and just be careful because she is a crazy hard marker. And also do not talk or she will roast you in front of the class :) Not an easy A

Comment:

Very informed teacher, she clearly knows what she is talking about. Her lecture style is easy, she takes what is important from the class readings and puts it into lecture form which you can take notes with. Tests were directly related to the notes, no surprises. Very intimidating, will lay you out in front of the class.

Very knowledgeable & enthusiastic about the topic however, the assessments need to be reevaluated. Essay is worth 30%, and rather than assessing what I've learned, it was a test of my writing skills, & attention to detail. I suggest dividing the essay into 2 parts: essay outline 5% & final 25%. Then students could edit from feedback. Elective btw.

Maybe it's just this specific class. She's a real historian that's been on digs and also a licensed pharmacist that's dope. The material is super interesting. Her evaluations are ridiculous. The midterm was not based around course themes but mainly trivial questions. She marks hard and assigns points seemingly randomly on criteria not shared withus

AMAZING PROF! super knowledgeable, funny, and makes content really interesting-like hearing a story! It's not an easy course, but definitely possible to get an A+ if you apply yourself. Just study the lecture notes and do the readings, visit her in her office hours if you need help with the essay, and youll do just fine

I am a science student so history does not come naturally to me. I decided to take history of technology and science to expand my general knowledge and this prof made the experience very enjoyable. Make sure to go to office hours. Very helpful!

Comment:

Hehmeyer is one of the most knowledgeable and educated profs I've ever had. As a trained historian, archaeologist and pharmacist, and an avid stargazer she will absolutely floor you with the amount of varied knowledge she has and how she can connect the seemingly unrelated dots. Punishing course for those unversed in history and astronomy.

ok so the lectures were actually interesting. there's a lot of memorization and it's content heavy, but she explains it very well and the content is good. this class is good for 1st yrs bc she she understands that and helps you out. if youre not game for participation and class discussions, i'm doing y'all a solid and don't take the class.

While she's really strict and hard headed its only because she wants everyone to do well. While there's a lot of info in the readings and lectures to process, it is easily doable if you keep up with them. You MUST attend class. She is always willing to help her students and encourages them to come to office hours especially for help with the essay.

An amazing prof, simply put. her classes are always engaging and super interesting and if the effort is put in, a high grade is achievable. NOTE: this is not a bird course. if you slack off for a second or miss just one class, you will not succeed. however, she's really nice and really helps you succeed. I look forward to taking part 2 of the class

You MUST attend all classes & take notes / sketches with your own hands ! NO COMPUTERS. She is a tough marker & tests are based on lecture content NOT textbook question banks. She's expert in her field with very clear expectations. If you're interested in the subject she's the best ! Not a bird course. Loved it.

She's a great prof, with an avid interest and much actual experience in the fields in which she teaches. Admittedly, she expects a lot of her students, but nothing more than is reasonable for a university level History class. So long as you do the assigned readings, which are very interesting, take notes in class, and participate, youll get an A
