Highly recommended! Teaches you the basics without a bunch of extra homework and nonsense. His goal is to get everyone to pass, so he really cares and tries to teach you what you need to know.

Worst English professor! All he does is make you write for each class, and make you read so that you can write in the next class, doesn't give clear feedback on papers, is a very nice and understanding person, but if you want to pass his class, you will have to ask lots an lots of questions, be prepared for reading like you have never done before! Overall, I wouldn't recommend him.

This man is ridiculous. ASU is known for it's english program and this man puts it to shame. When he comments on essays he is unclear and does not give good directions. He doesn't even teach. sometimes he won't even show up. I have always liked english but i hate this class.

Best ENG professor I've had yet. Only had 2 research papers (5-7 pages) and 5 in-class essays on assigned readings. Does 1:1, cuts up in class, and overall makes it enjoyable. Buy the Lil' Brn Book for his class and for later use in ENG classes. I wish he taught 1102 too.

he is a great teacher. is straight forward about what he expects and wants from you. isnt necessarily easy but definitely not hard if you read (which isnt a lot.) he also is laid back, sometimes has appointments about assignments one on one rather than class. almost always got out early. TAKE HIM =)

ASU needs more teachers like Berry. A very down to earth man that wants to teach you what he knows. Doesn't give you a bunch of non-sense that wastes your time. Unfortunately he is leaving ASU. Thanks Professor Berry for a very good 1102 class. Hope you have a nice retirement.

Professor Berry is an Awesome teacher! He gives 6 in-class essays and 1 out of class essay, in addition you have 2 process papers and the exit exam. He give vocab quizes which are a breeze. He's a great guy, too bad he's leaving.

I really liked him. He will give vocabulary tests which can be an easy 100. You always get out of class early. You can do well on the in-class essays you write as long as you try and stay on topic. I definately recommend taking his class.

I'd thought his class was impossible, but i worked very hard in there. He has vocab quizes, in class essays and 2 outside process essays. Not a strict teacher. I think his grading is pretty hard. Is able to appeal for exit essay. Does not stay the full class period.

Very knowledgeable Instructor with a sensible grading policy. Concise class length on several days, a plus for the busy college student. Under no circumstance should you take classes from Prinsky, Pollard, Sladky, Evans, or L. Johnson. If you want to pass English the first time take Berry.

like everyone else said he was hilarious-- has a very dry sense of humor but is a riot.. the class was also pretty easy for me and he did everything necessary to help out, answer any questions, and grade fairly. recommend.
