McLachlan is really cool, and obviously enjoys the subject he's discussing. The class is very lecture heavy, but he often goes off more what's in his head then on the powerpoint. I would definitely recommend, especially if you enjoy philosophy or religion topics academically.

I took philosophy in and of film with Mr. McLachlan and every other week we watched a film and if we didnt do that we had a discussion. There was never any assignments in the class we mainly just had quizzes online and then a 1500 word paper you can do anytime throughout the semester and the final exam. Funny guy and the class was great!

McLachlan is so sweet and really knows his stuff. i have his class at 8am so at that time of day everything is boring, but he explains everything really well and makes you think. assignments are pretty easy. theres weekly online quizzes, a couple of chapter outlines and 4 documentaries that you have to watch and answer questions on.

My favorite teacher of this semester. He was funny, understanding, and made sure you understood what was going on. He makes you work for your grades, but being an honors class I was in it makes sense. I would recommend him if you enjoy sociology or religion.

Jim is a wonderful teacher! The philosophy department at WCU could rival a program at a more prestigious university, and that's largely thanks to all the work he's done for the program over the years. He will challenge you, so expect to use your brain in his classes.
