Comment:

Warm personality, passionate about theater, however this class is EXTREMELY boring. Sometimes it seems like he is teaching for himself and not for the students because no one is paying attention/ 90 percent of the students are on facebook. I skipped more than 10 classes and it didn't effect my grade at all. Only buy the book with the plays in it.

Utz is awful. Never returns emails, treats you like an idiot when you go ask a question, and is pretty arrogant. I never payed attention, did half the quizzes, and still did fine thanks to his extra credit that lets you raise your grade by two whole letters. A terrible class though. Don't take it if you don't have to.

Worst. Professor. Ever. NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS. All he does is lecture from slideshows (available online). Don't bother buying the books - they're available in the library. Read/see the plays and you'll get an A. But this class was a waste of time.

Theater has never been so boring. I emailed him multiple times and never heard back. You never get feedback or know your grades on any of the play quizes. l would rather have chewed glass then gone to this class. Awful, but he's kinda sexy.

He's kind of checked out because rumor has it he's leaving after this year, but he's easy. Just do the weekly assignments and you'll get an A. You can early do poorly on the midterm; just do a short extra credit paper and you're golden. Easy A, and a great class to do other things in (or skip altogether).

By a far the best class I took last semester. Jim is an incredible teacher and knows everything and anything about theatre. All the plays are entertaining. The class is easy; take notes, read the plays, and do the quizzes. I wouldn't buy the textbook, I had no need for it. Most of all, pay attention and enjoy the class!

Jim Utz is a God. He is full of energy, is open to any student who needs help or has a random question about theatre, and is just a cool guy! Though the class size is HUGE, I still got a lot of the class. If you like theatre at all, you will LOVE this class. And if you like cool people, you will love Jim Utz!

This man is the epitome of a pompous drama person. The class is insanely easy, but insanely boring. And listening to him speak makes me so mad b/c he's just so obnoxious. He thinks he's the greatest gift to mankind, and is just so full of it. Its an easy class though, an easy A.

Comment:

I added the class after the first three classes, after dropping another. On the syllabus I read that we are allowed 3 skips for the class. I took my 3, and later found out that he had me down for 6, for he counted the first 3 classes BEFORE I joined the class as my skips. In turn, I received a C- for poor attendence. This man sucks.
