Comment:

I personally loved taking this with Prof. Ball and I learned a lot about art in NYC. She knows her stuff, though she's too harsh a grader. We had enough projects that our grade wasn't concentrated on too few things, but the work wasn't too much. We did go on a lot of field trips (museums, performances, etc.) but I enjoyed them. I'd take her again.

I did not enjoy this class. I can't understand if it's because I don't like arts or the professor. But I hated going to this class. I had to go to places like almost every weekend. We had an opera as a class that ended at 11 PM. Just did not enjoy this class!!

A great professor. She is funny, knowledgeable,and very easy going. She requires group work, though it was actually really fun. She didn't use an actual textbook instead she did require readings posted on blackboard. You will definitely enjoy her class, and learn a lot from her.

Comment:

Excellent professor. This is a very-well designed course with strong textbooks covering a rich historic period. Midterm and final were challenging, but this IS college. Research paper was time intensive & at least two of three museum lectures are required. Everyone in the class makes presentation (in teams). Not an easy course, but it is top-notch.

Great class, facilitated discussions, group projects are fun, her exams are super easy as long as you take good notes and study from them because the essays are entirely based on class discussions, very clear on papers and curves the grades if you do well. I recommend taking her upper tier core if you are interested in art, you learn a lot.

Very helpful professor. Research is a bit heavy; she recommends books for you to check out. Talks a little too fast during slide shows. Don't trust her flaky midterm review lists; study everything.

She can be boring and seems to think everyone is really interested. But she is very nice and always available to answer any questions you have. There is a 10 page paper that will torture you if you have no interest in the subject. Tests are not easy but fair and are curved as well.

Somtimes the class can be boring because you go over loads and loads of scultures and paintings and it can be a lot to take in. But the assignments aren't difficult (just go visit a museum) and the final wasn't bad because I studied all my notes and looked up important info in the textbook. She's a pretty nice teacher.

I think that she's great. Gives interesting facts about the slides and easy tests (if you study) since they're only 34 or so multiple choice questions for both midterm and final. One paper, a response to a gallery talk that you must attend. You pretty much get to choose which talk you go to though. She definitely gets you to appreciate art.

Prof. Ball class is excruciatingly boring. Nevertheless, she attempts to make the class motivating. The readings are superfluous. Exams require an excess amount of studying, however, the paper is exceptionally easy.

Very nice, always wants to help, very understanding.Tests are harder than some people have said, you have to memerize what pictures, buildings, etc.look like and all their info.class is boring but im probably biased against an art class.But paper is easy as can be (2pages double spaced)and rough draft option if getting an A on it wasnt easy enough.

Professor Ball has high standards, but you will learn in her class. She allows rewrites and curves her hard, all essay tests. Much memorization of art works, you must know name, artist and date. Her lectures are interesting, but the texts are disorganized and use as many obscure words as possible. An A requires much effort.I'd take her again though

Unreal teacher. Easiest for this core. 50 MC midterm and final- big curve and 1 easy easy paper. Definetly take her!
