Such a sweet man. I am a terrible public speaker because I am really shy. I still recieved an A in the class though. Right before my first speech my great grandmother passed away and he allowed me an extentsion without me even asking for one. He really cares about his students, and wants for everyone to pass his class.

I rally did not like this class. At the beginning of the year he was a really nice guy, but as the year progressed he became kinda mean almost. taking notes it completely pointless at the beginning of the year. Just do the speeches and group work. Everything that he says to other people about their speeches just make sure you fix for yours

Love him! I was dreading taking speech until I went to class. He is a very layed back professor. If you have to take speech take Dr. Ketchen! He is very nice and grades pretty easy! Class is mandatory so go to class and you will do fine! You only have 2 speeches plus group speeches. He is a great professor!

Dr. Ketchen is one of my favorite professors at UT!This is the class to have for speech. As long as you do all of your speeches and are at class everyday(he takes attendance grades) you will be fine.

If you are worried about taking a public speech class, you have found your teacher. He was interesting, had great notes, and was just generally a great teacher to be around. Before the semester I was not happy about taking this course but by the end he was my favorite teacher I have had at UT. Attendance is mandatory, but it's still worth it

Best teacher I have taken since I have been at UT. I had the best time in his class and made wonderful friendships... No need for the textbook... if you do a service project in a group you don't have a final. Super easy if you attend class and give decent speeches

I took this professor years ago and still maintain the friendships I gained from the class, the friendships he enabled. We still remember the lessons we learned, the interest he took in our lives and the delight he took in watching us lose our inhibitions and gain public speaking confidence. He is fabulous!
