IF YOU CAN TAKE HIM! Easily the most caring professor I have ever had. Emailed us weekly reminding us that our mental health matters more than any class we're in. Makes you want to go to class because lectures are so much fun with his music and running around. Exams arent too hard. Does weekly map quizzes which are super easy. 10/10 recommend.

Professor Walker is very awesome at what he does. Hes very approachable if you ever need help with something. We have quizzes on Tuesdays and a map he posts on canvas, filling it out and studying is a must. Its the exact same map on the quizzes 10 in total. His tests are easy if you go to the study sessions and ask questions. An easy paper.

He is a good professor. Every week you have map quizzes which are very tedious and specific to the point where it is unnecessary. 1 paper in the semester. You MUST talk In class to get a good grade. Participation is 15% of your grade. Tests are very hard, go to the review sessions

Professor Walker is an awesome guy. The test is based on 10 map quizzes, 3 tests, and a complicated research paper. He hosts review sessions before every test which help A LOT and I would highly recommend going to them if you want to receive a good grade on the test. Overall, definitely put in work but nothing too extreme for an A/B. 10/10 Gen Ed

He is one of my favorite professors at JMU. He is so caring about his students. He is very blunt and can rub people the wrong way, but I am the same way so I didn't mind it. For extra credit, you can bring in cans for a food drive that he hosts; what other professor would do that? Despite it being a big lecture, he will remember your name Take him!

Walker is an awesome guy. He makes learning geography interesting. You take 10 map quizzes that aren't bad if you study, write an 8 page paper, and take 3 exams (all multiple choice). Go to the exam review sessions- they will help SO MUCH!! You get a participation grade at the end of the semester for how many times you talked in class too.

The only way to get a good grade on the exam is to go to the review session where he tells you the answers to the exam. He is very confusing during lectures, just scribbles on a piece of paper all class. Acts like he cares about all his students but when I went to his office he talked over me and insulted me the whole time.

Professor Walker is an amazing guy. He is a lot and all over the place at first, but he wants all his students to do well. Map quiz every week which are easy. There are 2 exams and a final which are not accumulative. You need to attend lecture because most of the information for exam are spoken about at lecture. Wants his students to participate

Such a great guy. The class consists of 3 tests, a paper, some quizzes, and participation. He holds review sessions before every test that are very helpful. The quizzes are easy for the most part, but one question is always very specific that a lot of people do not get right. Overall I definetly recommend.

it is a good class and he tries his best to keep his 8am class awake. the only part i really dont like about the class is the very confusing detailed requirements for our family history paper, its nice finding out all of your families history but the requirements for it can be a bit confusing, he is a fun professor tho

I highly recommend choosing to take Professor Walker. He is very energetic and passionate about his class. As long as you show up for class and go to the review sessions before the exams, there's no reason to not get a good grade. Be sure to study for the map quizzes each week, but they're not too difficult.

professor walker is a little crazy for an 8 am class but he really cares about his students. 3 exams and a non cumulative final. he provides review sessions that tell you what exactly is on the exam so GO TO EVERY SINGLE ONE. textbook isnt needed so dont buy it. weekly map quizzes and a family geography essay at the end of the semester.

GO TO THE REVIEW SESSIONS!!!! He is an amazing professor, at the review sessions he tells you exactly what will be on the test. Go to the review sessions or you will only know half of the information on the test.

8am lectures were really energetic. Learned most peoples name in a 200 person class. Wasnt super political after the first week. Study for map quizzes and its an easy A (my only mistake). One paper. 2 midterms and a non cumulative final. You can skip. Hes wacky in a good way (he will snap on you if youre on your phone). Exams based on lecture.

He's extremely nice and tries to learn everyone's name despite being a huge class. There's only 2 exams and the final which isn't cumulative. His exam review sessions are extremely helpful cause he tells you what to exactly study. I didn't bother reading the chapters, but I did look over the key terms. There are map quizzes and a paper.

Don't take it. Really hard class, definitely better ones in the GenEd category. His tests are impossible and his map quizzes are absurdly specific. Review sessions don't help that much, no matter how hard you study there'll be material on the test you've never seen before. He's very moody and easily agitated with his students. Don't recommend.

Really emphasizes participation in class, he just wants to hear people's opinions about things. The class isn't that bad and he's very understanding when it comes to grades. Take him for the gened, you learn a lot!

Learn his opinion and roll with it for the easy A, he doesnt want to hear an opposing viewpoint. If you can handle an hour of a close minded liberal yelling at 8am go for it. The class is structured around his opinions and how cultured he is. Everything you need to know was taught in high school.

Don't take this class. I signed up for this gened because I heard great things, but it has to be one of the worst classes I've ever taken. He's very rude and makes very inappropriate comments and remarks to students . There's map quizzes every week and three tests. Class isn't super difficult but sitting through his lectures were painful.
