Comment:
Professor Katz missed the first week of the semester and showed up in an irritable mood. She would yell and argue with her students, portray anti-Semitic opinions, and chastise those of whom do not share her far-left political beliefs. Her course includes several essays, group projects, and an abundance of reading. No easy office hours and STRICT

I wish I hadn't taken this class. The professor assigns very boring and difficult readings, and is hard to pay attention to. I paid attention for less than half of every lecture. She's very knowledgable and kind, but not a very good teacher in my opinion. I would not recommend taking this class, even if you are interested in the topic like I was.

I took this professor for the intro to human rights class and it was one of my favorite classes at Towson. It consisted of weekly guest speakers who connected their areas of expertise to current human rights topics or historical abuses around the world. theres 3 short papers, weekly discussions, and a final which makes it pretty do-able

Don't take this class if you aren't ready to work. I took it as a fun elective and it has ended up being a huge pain. She knows her stuff but expects a lot out of you.

Eh. Thats how I would describe this course. Prof Katz gives an insane amount of homework required for each class. She was also a bit aggressive in the way she addressed her students opinions. The exams are take home but they are also difficult nevertheless. She does have good intentions and is a friendly lady but the class wasn't what I anticipated

She gave way too much work throughout the year along with a final 10 page paper. She was very disrespectful in the way she would address the class and would blame the entire class for the mistakes of a few student. The topic itself is interesting but with the amount of chapters and work you have to do, You will eventually get bored and sleep.

lots of reading, very difficult exams. Far more like a 400 level class than any 100 level that i've ever taken. I wouldn't recommend to freshman. She is a good lecturer, and very knowledgable about the subject, but ultimately the class is far far more difficult than any 100 level should be.

Prof. Katz definitely knows her stuff when it comes to ME History. Having read some comments on here I was hesitant to take her HIST 338 course, but I'm glad I did! She makes class interesting. She isn't an overly tough grader, but you do have to actually put in work on the papers. Show up, participate and definitely do the readings!

Lots of reading i mean ALOT! other than that her lectures are in depth and quite interesting and she lets you use notes for her test . Test arent that hard as she lets you know the general topics of discussion. Great professor as long as you read and great for extra help in understanding some of the historical events that come off as confusing

Hours of reading required each week. Quiz in class on readings (essay format). Super hard professor. Two papers instead of midterm. Unclear guidelines. Didn't really know what i was supposed to be learning. Most of the class was rambling. This class had no prerecs but you are expected to know ME history already. Would definitely not take again.

Dr. Katz wants everyone to do well. She provides the resources, support, and clarity that make her classes tough but well worth it. She comes to class prepared and expects her students to as well. Dr. Katz knows what she's teaching and is extremely passionate-something that works its way into every lecture and encourages her students to pursue it.

Dr. Katz is without a doubt one of the best teachers I've ever had in my life. She got me interested in M.E. history. She is incredibly intelligent (even a little intimidating!) but once you talk to her she is very personable. You cannot slack in her class. She makes you work for the grade and expects you to try. Show interest and you'll do well.

Don't take this class if you are planning on slacking- Katz is an expert on the middle east and can tell if you're BSing. I enjoyed this class despite the workload and I ended up learning a tremendous amount about the middle east.

Do not take this professor. I cannot believe she still has a job at Towson. She is the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. She treats a 100 level Towson Seminar class like a 400 level science class. Her presence brought significant negativity to everyone in the class. Avoid this class if you can!

I've taken a class with Dr. Katz every semester upon transferring. Her lower levels require a lot of work but you will learn about the course material. Now I'm in her upper level and it's much easier because I'm aware of the material. I'm planning on taking her capstone course next semester because she got me hooked on Middle Eastern studies.

Dr. Katz is what you are supposed to expect in collegeuniversity. She prepared me for a real life of academia and I am so grateful. Good is not easy, and I would have rated her even higher in helpfulness because this is helpful in discovering what is needed to prepare for real exams and such.

This class was a nightmare. Katz is unorganized and wasted class time. Quiz questions were ambiguous or about tiny details in peripheral texts but important for final grade. She can be rude and dismissive in class. In person she is kind but unhelpful. This is her subject but she was neither enthusiastic nor informative. Avoid.

This class was a lot of work, but overall I liked professor Katz. Definitely a strict grader, but don't let that discourage you and ask for her help. She made sure that everyone was keeping up with the class throughout the semester. Pay attention to your grammar and word usage when doing one of the many written assignments.

This is the hardest class that I have, don't take it. I am always counting the seconds until its over. Dr. Katz is a EXTREMELY hard grader, there are three presentations, you have homework for every single class sometimes multiple chapters in multiple books in one night, a 10 page final paper, as well as 5 other short writing assignment.
