DONT TAKE HER FOR RC2001. She is honestly the worst!! She has called me by the wrong name the whole year and does not help you with anything even if you email her. She makes you write a paper every class and stand up and speak even if you hate public speaking. She's rude and you should take literally any other RC professor

Accidentally signed up for the service-learning course version of this class and regretted every second of it. Prof. Heiks was constantly blaming the students for problems out of their control and wasn't very helpful or understanding when it came to working through these issues. She didn't seem very qualified for the job either.

DO NOT TAKE FOR RC2001. An assignment is due every class period. She also requires every assignment to be printed out, which is a pain especially for a gen ed class. If you do the work, she will give you a good grade but it is ridiculous the amount of work that was assigned for literally a gen ed class.

She is scary. Like literally terrifying. If you don't do something the way she wants it done, she will definitely let you know (even though her instructions can be really vague). She can be friendly, sure; but even as someone who gets good grades in this class she can still be really harsh. You write 4 papers with the same articles. Kinda boring.

If you have her for a service learning class it's fairly easy. you have 3 papers to write but thats it. and she doesn't grade your rough drafts and they get edited by her and 3 other students to ensure a decent final paper. Also during conference week you have no class. Simple teacher, not much homework.

Okay class, but it was very confusing. All we did was pick a topic and write 3 papers on the one topic, all with the same articles. She can be very intimidating at times, especially during conferences. Can be really harsh about your writing, and usually will only tell you what's wrong not how to fix it. Understanding when you have to miss class.

I don't really understand what this class was supposed to be. You write 3 different forms of the same paper, with all of the same articles. It's not too difficult, just confusing at times. All papers in MLA, not APA (strange for college). Ms. Heiks is nice but scares me sometimes, she is very blunt and gives harsh criticism but rather good grades.

Overall easy class- just show up and do the assignments. only 2 big papers that we worked on for multiple classes, took off points for each class missed, took off points for having phone out, a lot of writing assignments for the first month of class, but made the first paper easy to write, classes were kinda pointless. Group project for months

It is like any other RC class but you have to do volunteer work. She is a super easy grader if you read and just follow the instructions she gives. There isn't as much work as other RC2001 classes because of the volunteer work.

I would say you have to attend class to pass. Each absence is about 2 points off you're grade. I definitely hated going and 12 hours of community service is like sooooo much. Its only 20 points of credit out of 300 points on the syllabus. Not worth it.

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. She required two two page journals for every class and ALWAYS argued with your views. Tons of busy work thats just way too much for a 2001 class. Attendance is required and she also requires 12 hours of community service from a list of places that she picks.

Would not suggest this professor. For a gen ed class, this was a ton of work with significant homework almost every day. Only two papers, but a lot of journals.

This class was pretty easy because the journal entries were just a participation grade and the stuff she actually graded, we worked on over multiple weeks.

This class has 10 journal entries which helps your grade, if you do all the work and the three papers you should get a good grade. She grades holistically and calls on people randomly in class. Just doing the work and showing up to participate in certain classes gives you points. There is a group project at the end which was not hard.

It was a decent class, but not one that I looked forward to. There are like 10 journals that you have to do, they're all answers to reading questions, so it is a pain. Then the group project at the end is just pointless. She also believes that a A is perfect, while a B is good. So don't expect an A. Nice lady, just pointless class.

She isn't too bad except for this obnoxious group project that she makes you do... it went on for months it felt like. It wasn't all that hard just a waste of everyone's time. The project makes the class feel like high school.

There are so many things as an English professor you could do to make your class fun. She does exactly the opposite. She's nice but likes to argue a lot with you over political views which have nothing to do with english. Super stressful class because of all the busy work. Definitely better professors out there you can take for this course

Most pointless class. Theres a ton of reading in the beginning but none after the first couple weeks. She gives the stupidest busy work and pointless things to do, but its a pretty easy class if you keep up with the minimal papers due.

I consider myself a liberal person but she is VERY liberal, and she sort of shows when she thinks your opinion is dumb. I find it rude. She gives out lots of journal assignments and her class has a main focus on being part of a city council and writing a proposal for that city. It feels really irrelevant, I would try to take someone else.

Oh my, how I hated this class. Everything we did in here seemed so pointless. Most assignments were unrelated to one another, like the journals. They all leaned to one side or the other, and Heiks expected you to have a hardcore viewpoint for or against it.
