Dr. Byrd was the best teacher I've ever had, and I am in medschool now. He is knowledgeable, caring, and so enthusiastic about teaching. He never had favorites, he loved us all, and he put his heart into teaching us organic. I miss you Dr. Byrd, you were the best! Thank you!

I agree with the Ucla guy....Dr. Byrd shook me to my core until I took ochem at CSUN where its ten times harder than at glendale and I did well. I finally realized it wasn't me. I just didn't click with Dr. Byrd. my best advice is to study and pay attention to how finicky he is cuz he'll take off points for not doing the way he likes it and don't g

Whoever wrote this rating for Dr. Byrd, is out of his mind. If there is a good teacher on this campus, it is Dr. Byrd. Dr. Byrd, you are the best memory of my college years, and you are the one who inspired me for love of science. And you are the most caring, sincere, and thorough teacher I've ever encountered. I will never forget you!

Dr. Byrd is like a sugarcoater who makes you think everything is easy, and then drops a bomb on you on exam day. You can rock lectures and practice exams, and you'll be surprised how little errors yield big deductions on tests. Though he seems nice, sometimes I would doubt his sincerity. Organic chem was frustrating when I took it with him.

Rater from 8/08/08 is obviouslu manic about Byrd to be giving him 5's everywhere, not to mention a lack of assessment in his evaluation. UCLA guy's description is more accurate. I got an A by a hairline-- Byrd takes off too many points; I had a D in one exam from having lost an incredible amt of points fr small mistakes. Thank God for spectroscopy.

Dr. Byrd was my best GCC experience. HE IS THE BEST. He made a family out of our class of 08 with jokes and crazy parties in the O. Chem lab. I feel sad that O. Chem is over. Love and respect to You, Dr. Byrd. We will miss You.

The "UCLA" guy who keeps on nagging about Dr. Byrd's tests is one of those people who don't do homework, skip class, and make others responsible for their problems. Dude, 10/50 of the students were getting "A"s in the class. I doubt that 20% of a UCLA class would get an A on Ochem. Don't make someone else responsible for your procrastinations.

Exams may seem like they're similar to practice exams, content-wise but they are not of the same difficulty level. Actual exam usually covers more concepts PER QUESTION. Practice exams should be harder. That's how USMLE toppers prepare-- they have reviews more rigorous than the actual exam. Byrd takes off SO many points. Expect an A, end up with C.

There's a lot of love for Dr. Byrd, but he & I never clicked. He's OK as a person, but as a teacher, it's questionable. Lecture is very easy compared to exams. Exams look similar, but they are not, really. It was a frustrating, confidence-shattering experience. Thank God for ochem at UCLA- I excelled here & prof didn't even need Byrd's wide vocab.

Dr. Byrd is a very knowledgeable and respectable professor who wants you to edify your motley skills in organic chemistry. He teaches his course very well. He is so clear about what he wants on the exams. His labs are NOT boring. He is a fair grader, and he has a great sense of humor. He is facetious on times. Ohh, and he is the ORGANIC KING!

Dr. Byrd is a very nice man. I had him for both 105&106.he explains everything very well and is very clear on what he wants on the tests. the tests are not hard but when you think you'll get a 100%, he takes off way too many points for minor mistakes and you end up with a B. thats what i hated about the cl****.its almost impossible to please him.

on the final he asks questions that was not required to study on the test. I think it is not fair.
