This class was hard but things like theory / history are very boring for me. She doesn't have a text but rather articles to print off so great $$ wise. She has a lot of passion but is hard to approach. First quiz gives you an idea of her testing but I failed the midterm (class average of C). There was an essay worth 25% and final worth 40%.

Great class Not a GPA booster- but great if you enjoy theory. It was a difficult class- but I learned a lot. You MUST pay attention in class and take good notes, do not miss class.

Do not take 331 with her. I did all of the readings and answered all of the questions she gave us, went to her for extra help and I still did not succeed. She is dry and boring and her tests are extremely hard because she is a very hard marker. Listen to everything she says because that is what will be on the exams. If you have her, good luck.

Worst SOCI class Ive ever taken. Shrill voice made listening to her lectures hard. Notes posted on d2l are not helpful at all, & she makes you fish the material out of dry readings when it could have been easily presented and answers aren't clear. Marks hard & tests are all written even though MC would be a much better way to test the material.

This prof was the hardest marker I have ever had. She is teaching an intro level theory course and marked like it was a graduate level. I have never done so poorly on a final before. I would not take this class with this prof, her marking her super unreasonable.

You can only make theory so interesting, but McCoy obviously cares about the material. I find history super boring but she made it (kinda) fun and I learned a lot. She gives you tons of tools (and review sessions) to ace the class, so put in a little effort and you will do just fine.

Info is pretty clear and basic, quite intesresting if you like learning about the different theorists. Tests are written and seem easy, but her grading is not consistent - different for every person, and docks for things she never mentioned she wanted. Nice person, offers help sessions before test which is useful - D2L discussion boards helpful!

Liza may not be the most fascinating prof to listen to, but she's among the most clear and fair ones I've had in 4 years of uni. She makes her expectations incredibly clear, gives ample opportunity to improve and seek feedback, and really truly genuinely wants to help you learn. Her grading is very fair. Go to class and just try as hard as you can.

Dr. McCoy is by far one of my favourite sociology profs. She makes boring material as interesting as she can in order to help people learn. Yes, her tests do involve long answer questions and they are typically worth only 2-3 marks so you need to be specific. Unless you don't go to class and don't study there is no reason for not doing good.

Gives a clear expectation for what will be on the midterms, study guides are in line with lecture notes and discussions.

Dr. McCoy is very reasonable - she made it clear what her expectations were from the first class. She gives good feedback about what tests are like and told us several times what material to review (in almost a study guide style) prior to the midterm. I didn't have any issue with her grading, like the last person did.

WORST professor I have EVER had in my four years at university. She is the worst grader and takes off marks for no reason. Her "short answer" questions on her tests are not short at all. If you don't give her the most precise and detailed paragraph, she will take marks off. Oh, and she takes marks off for not being concise enough. Worst prof. Skip.

Not very interesting, but she makes her expectations super clear! You know exactly what you'll be tested on and how. She is so organized, which can have its cons in terms of her being really set in her ways and not open to anything outside of what she has planned (including questions). But overall, follow her instructions closely and you'll do well

Visual sociology was fairly interesting overall, although way too much course work. There is a term paper for "activity four" which you have to do your own research for. Very time consuming and she told us this with two weeks left in classes. Enthusiastic teacher however. It would be a decent class without so much work.

Awful. Ask her any question and you just leave more confused. She talks down to you as well if you don't know something. And awkwardly stands there waiting for you to answer her questions.

Go to class and take notes, her power points don't really help. AND READ THE TEXTBOOK. You will do well if you pay attention, she isn't very helpful either, will respond to your questions to make you feel like an idiot.
