Comment:

Not a fan of her teaching style at all. Very nice woman but not the teacher for me. Lecture is you copying down what she writes on a sheet of paper that's not the easiest to read. There's 3 tests that aren't bad, very study guide specific, but weekly quizzes are majority of your grade. B is very possible but you'll have to work for the A.

I am rating Dr. Cook because a lot of other rating were either incorrect or she has changed a lot. First, for success in her class, read the assigned reading and participate. Even if you fail to do the previous two, she narrows down what is on the exams in her study guides. Also, she is nice enough to tell you what pages to focus on for the test

Comment:

Cook is a very nice professor who knows what she is talking about. This class is extremely difficult to get a good grade in if you do not study. I spend more time in this class studying than any other one and I still don't do very well on the tests.

Cook is a great lady. I had her as my in course honor's teacher and I loved her. We talked for hours about interesting things not just science related. I heard only 20 people /300 got A's but I don't know how since the curve is an 85 for an A. One test I only missed one question and it was due to a stupid mistake. Go to class, read the book, study

This class is RIDICULOUS! Heard that they haven't changed this course in 5 years - same slides. Last test, study guide had 198 terms to study on it. 198 TERMS FOR 1 TEST! That is asinine! What makes it more ridiculous is they expect you to know EVERY term in full detail. These Cook/Cap need to be audited - they need to get the boot.

Hardest class. I'm not a bio major but I need this class for my major. It's frustrating because cook is the only one who teaches this course when she really shouldn't be. Nice person, terrible at teaching. There goes my GPA.

Hardest class I've taken so far. Avoid if possible. tests are extremely hard and even harder to study for. It's frustrating that cook is the only ones that teaches this class because they are just awful at teaching. Stick to research Martha.

Wish I hadn't taken this and instead taken Physics for Engineers as my elective. Averaging a mid D on her tests. Spent more time studying on her tests than other courses I've taken - and I've taken Calc 2/many other 300 level courses. Her questions are so damn specific - 80% of the questions test higher level understanding. Bye bye 3.39 GPA...sigh

It's a hard class to get an A in, especially for a non science major like myself. That being said, I believe Dr. Cook is a helpful teacher, and she's clearly very passionate about her work. Makes biology fun for a non-bio student, although it is quite challenging. I'd recommend reading the book, I never did.

She is always genuinely interested in the topics she covers, and brings enthusiasm to the class as well. As long as you pay attention in class, the exams are sort of easy. She is quiet and sometimes boring, but she knows the material very well and is very helpful if you go to her and ask questions.

Cook should stick to research. She is barely audible near the front row, nonetheless impossible in a 300-person lecture hall. Her powerpoints are completely useless, the book is really the only thing that can help you in this course. Make sure to fill out the study guide and know it in and out

it is suppose to be a 100 level general bio course, but is harder than 200 and 300 level courses I have taken. Plan on studying a lot and use the tutoring available it is the only thing that helped me get a B. Good Luck...

Insanely boring while she teaches, but she's a nice lady. I like Capparella's lectures better than hers, but she is an easier teacher, which is all we care about in college, right? Overall, I'd recommend her with a slight cringe.

If any teacher could ever put me to sleep, she did!!! She is so extremely boring and monotone. She got annoyed when people asked questions, and gave you no idea what would be on exams. Exams were soo hard and even harder to study for.

I liked Cook A LOT more than Capparella. Her test questions are straight forward and her powerpoints from lectures are easy to follow and are organized in a manner that is understanding, unlike Capparella's. She is a very nice person and always willing to help and answer questions if you ask her.

She's awesome! as long as you study you will do fine. Her test questions are fairly easy! you can really tell she loves what she does and some of the material is really interesting! she's much better than capparella
