Comment:

Talks the whole class period, goes on tangents irrelevant to material. Easy on students who are unfamiliar with computer graphics but will not teach you how to use programs and does not give much class time to work on projects so be prepared to work in the library outside of class most of the week. Really hard to sit through class

Comment:

Brodsky is an okay guy. Yes he is a stickler for attendance and can sometimes come across as cold, but he has a passion for art that shows during his lectures. He gives okay feedback but you will need to ask him one-on-one for specifics on what can improve. Be prepared to teach yourself the softwares. Brodsky does not teach that in class.

I don't understand why he has such bad reviews. I'm in his class now and he's such a funny and good guy. He gives good feedback and isn't very critical. He's also passionate about what he does so it's interesting. You do have to watch a lot of videos to learn the programs in depth but that's expected for any of these classes.

Comment:

Prof. Brodsky's classes, while they may be tough are definitely worth it. The biggest takeaway for me was the Web Design class, as that I not only learned how to promote my work and skills on an online and accessible platform, but I also became knowledgeable in Web Design and Coding. All in all I would definitely recommend taking his classes

Talks forever, most of the Tuesday class you will be listening to his cat stories or talking for half the class on feedback for assignments. Knows what he is talking about, but goes on tangents. Criticizes work harshly and doesn't care. You must be on time or he will mark you absent. Same with assignments.

He may not have sympathy for late work and attendance, but at least he appreciates your efforts. I really don't think he is as bad as people claim he is. I have two class with him and I did not have trouble at all.

Having taken Brodsky before, I knew what I was getting myself into by taking another one of his classes. Prepare to listen to him speak endlessly for the 3hr period and to have to spend $$$$$$$ on your final project.

All you need to do is read the other comments on here. He's hard, mean, and uncaring. Maybe passionate, but every negative personality trait trumps anything positive about this professor. Just don't take this guy. Go to Ann Le instead for computer graphics! If you're MMedia like me... we're stuck in this together.

Complete waste of time! Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Teaches you nothing about the software. Prepare to teach yourself the entire course. Doesn't mind humiliating you in front of the class. He goes on dumb tangents, sometimes no breaks and its a 3 hours class. Only comes to class ONCE a week (T/R class) and attendance is mandatory.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If you are a multimedia major, this class is required. He assigns a TEN PAGE SINGLE SPACED paper due during finals week. All he does during class is ramble about CalArts and shows weird art that he expects you to remember a week later. Worst class.

Ive never posted on this but I had to. Ive had Brodsky for 3 years now and I can't stand him any longer. I recently put hours upon hours of work into his digital photo class. I was refining my images for the final but my disk for the class wouldn't burn. I showed up 30 minutes late and he wouldn't accept anything. DONT TAKE HIM

Huge ego! he wastes a ton of time telling stories and talking up art shows even though no one is interested. he really does tell you to teach yourself. to be in this class, you need prior knowledge of programs otherwise you will struggle big time. he's not awful but not great either.

I would advise everyone to stay away. Only shows up for one class a week, TA is the other class. The one class he does show up at all he does is lecture. You do NOT get hands on experience. He tells useless stories and is very strict on grading. Good luck being on his good side if you are not a computer graphic/graphic design major. STAY AWAY!

3-hour lectures force u 2 sit silently with locked drawing pad 2 watch him doodle & try 2 remember how 2 use photoshop in his demos. policy: it's better 2 turn in something crappy on time than good work late. ironic bc he takes away hands-on learning time 2 tell pointless stories. I've had Brodsky for 4 years & he has not changed. If you want to learn something outside of Photoshop or Photography, don't anything with him because he doesn't know it. He'll simply tell you to buy a book & teach yourself and that will be the entire class. My best advice after 4 years, avoid taking him at all costs!

At first I was excited to learn how to do a web page but after being in his class is was useless.He doesn't teach you anything nor does he help when you ask a question.His answer is I'm teaching you to teach yourself.That's a bunch of crap I don't pay him to not teach me anything.
