Seems knowledgeable about the subject. As far as teaching its a big disconnect. His lectures are horrid and boring, Needs to find new teaching methods. You definitely will have to teach yourself outside of class. "he told us if we're expecting A's it's not possible lower our expectation" 1-2 little assignments, weekly quizzes, and 4 practicums.

He has powerpoint slides he refers to in class, but moves so fast that you cant take notes. His powerpoints range from 30 to 50 slides filled with tons of information. He will put things that are not in the textbook on the exam. He focuses more on his powerpoints than the textbook. Gives assignments verbally that have unclear guidelines. Dont do it

His test sheets are a lot to remember there's one paper that has drafts the paper was 4500-5000 words he does give you feedback on the paper. There a small book and a textbook that's needed, there's a public a market observation short paper, but there's a lot of reading at time and his powerpoints aren't helpful at times overall his an ok prof

Prof Wood is not as bad as people say. He tries to engage the class with his corny jokes. He does give quizzes every week. Just study from the powerpoints & you'll be fine. He gives a few assignments. Gives long study guides but they're useful

Unreliable, uninteresting. Bad temper. Almost killed my love for Sociology. Political ideologies pushed onto class. Angered by students that adequately question the material.

Comment:
The material was not easy to get through, but the course overall was fairly decent. A few writing assignments related to general research concepts, and the in-class assessments were based off of material from the textbook, so you do need to read. Made the class laugh and had an overall positive demeanor. Would probably recommend.

There was a lot of work for this course. 3 quizzes, IRB assignment, Midterm, Final & 4 practicums(short papers) It was a difficult semester, but he is definitely there if you need help. Its difficult to get an A in this course because such a high percentage goes to the midterm and final, and those tests are tricky! In order to pass, effort is needed

Terrible! Pushes his conservative view points on the class, rambles on about things that have nothing to do with the lesson, and then gets angry when you do not give him EXACTLY what he wants. And you don't even know what he wants because he is so vague and unclear and believe me, you do NOT want to ask him questions. He has serious temper issues!

very boring professor. does not teach well and therefore the material becomes unclear. he expects a lot of work to be done. i would recommend to stay away from taking the class unless you have a real interest for consumer behavior. midterm, final, and a term paper.

Incompetent, doesnt understand his material. flawed personality- can not handle questions, feels threatened by students who question the material. reminded me of the professor in feris beulers day off. On a good day he can put you to sleep, on a bad day he will put you in a coma. do not take a class with him in anything you love, he will kill it.

Just as everyone has said so far:funny, friendly, easy-going,helpful. Topic can be boring for a 101 because he goes all over the place, so you tend to lose focus and drift off to zzzz.

He's a really nice and funny guy -- once he starts lecture, be prepared to be BORED -- he just pretty much reads the textbook to you and doesnt give much hint to what is on the test. I did amazing on the papers cuz they are pretty easy but the tests killed.. they were very specific and LONG (he doesnt usually teach intro)but a good guy

Ehh, his class is easy but at times you do tend to space off. He gives three papers and two tests so it's you can't really slack. Read the textbook or you are LOST! He jokes around sometimes but overall not as easy or interesting as a Soc-101 class should be.

This is his 1st time teaching (FALL '07) since working in Hunter for several years as an advisor. He's kinda funny (he uses funny analogies). He isn't mean; very patient and enjoys interacting w/the class about the readings.
