There are a lot of papers. She does break it down so you only turn in parts at a time to make it more manageable. She does make you work for the grade. There are no finals or midterms. The only final is the final research paper that must be turned in to her.

She's an ok professor. Yes her lectures are long and she will keep lecturing all night if it were up to her. She's not demanding in participation. Doesn't care if you show up to class. Easy A as long as your papers are good and you follow deadlines. Id take her again. She's a no stressor.

Comment:

Her voice is monotone, but it's also very sarcastic, and she'll slip in sarcasm and poke fun of the students who think they're "funny." It makes the lectures interesting to listen to. I loved the subject matter, she's clear about what she wants you to study and read, tests are a bit tricky but not hard if you just read and pay attention.

It is just a general class professor.! Dont treat it like its a rocket science PLS. I put twice as much energy and time on this class as any of my other 3 "SCIENCE BASE" classes. Please, try to be little more responsible in answering our emails. I know you said you like to spend your time with family, but you get paid to answer our emails too.

If you attend class and understand her lectures with good notes, it is an easy A in the class. She is very informative.. but is kinda boring. Take this class. It is so easy. She is clear in her lectures she does her best to make them interesting and the topics she covers are current. You turn in two papers and she's an easy grader. Honestly she is just doing her best to help those who try. An awesome professor.

Most useless teacher. Lectures are dull, her voice is monotone, and her class in general is a snooze fest. I missed 1 day of class and it just so happened that it was the day after the midterm. In which she made a lot of errors on the scantron and when I received mine she wouldn't let me double check it because I was absent. Useless teacher.

Lectures are extremely boring! The powerpoints are not posted online so you must show up for class to take notes. 1 mid-term & final, 2 papers. Tests are mostly based on lectures. I suggest bringing gum or something so you don't space out in class.

Tests are difficult, but the two papers are not as long as you follow guidelines. I found this class interesting but Prof is a little scatterbrained and vague about what is on the tests. Test questions are usually theory application but seem to be worded a little oddly. Overall, good class but it covers a lot of material.

this teacher never answers her emails. NEVER. I missed a class and I asked her what I possibly missed. She never answered and I missed a homework assignment. During lecture, whenever she asks the class for their opinion, she is never satisfied with the answer, and she prefers her own answer. Honestly the book is more interesting than her.

Interesting subject but the only thing I didn't like was her method of teaching. She uses a power point presentation to teach the material which can be boring at times. Grade is based on two papers and a multiple choice midterm/final. Very easy class.

Dr. Vaidya made the class interesting through the critical examination of race, class, and gender issues. She promoted participation and encouragement. She was able to clearly summarize and teach difficult theoretical concepts on sociological issues. An outstanding lecturer and an overall GREAT professor.

Intimidating at first, but always pay attention to the PowerPoint and videos she shows. The midterm was based mostly on the readers (which you can check out in the library and xerox) and the final on readers and text. Grades final on curve and final is not cumulative.
