Comment:

Cracks jokes all the time and makes lectures very fun. Attendence is not taken but somedays there are pop quizzes after the readings. I felt the exams were super hard and did not go along with the study guide at all. He doesn't post the lecture power points.

Comment:

He was a great teacher. There were a good amount of online readings that would turn into pop quizzes but he always alluded to when a quiz would pop up. Tests were easy if you studied and showing up would help you stay up to date. Missing class could mean missing a portion of the test and he doesnt post lectures online. Overall great teacher

He was extremely pretentious and did not care if his students failed or passed. He constantly belittled me and made me feel inadequate. A professor has never made me feel so stupid. I tried multiple times to work with him and he constantly outcasted me and made me feel helpless.

Comment:

Strange class. Must read and take notes on all assignments - he can give a pop quiz on anything, and it is easy to get a zero (only 2 questions, graded tough). Gives busywork assignments. Awesome lectures, but strange policies. Would take again, but just make sure you set aside time for the class. Tests relatively easy.

I really enjoyed this class. The exams were relatively straightforward, and my only complaint was that the pop quiz grading could be very arbitrary sometimes, but he drops the lowest and offers other extra credit so you should be good. He is funny, and his lectures and class discussions are very interesting, and don't take his sarcasm in a bad way.

really enjoyed this class, straight forward tests, lots of pop quizzes on the readings but also drops your lowest grade. Attendance isn't taken but you can't miss more than two or three classes and get an a because of pop quizzes and participation grades. lecture heavy but easy to follow and powerpoints arent online

Comment:

Dr. Ardoin is a very knowledgeable professor and understands so much about government, however he doesn't always communicate his knowledge well in class. I have learned so much from his teaching but his tests don't always reflect the material he emphasizes in class. If you like loose structure take him, if not choose a professor more suitable.

Comment:

Ardoin refuses to work with students that have mitigating circumstances and have to miss class. Lectures are interesting, but expectations are very rigid; don't expect him to tolerate any excuse whether it is valid or not. If you can avoid taking him for an upper level course, I'd do it, which is disappointing given he is the department chair.

I was honestly intimidated when I first had him for Intro to American. But I got a better feel for him as time progressed. He is one of a kind but he makes class so so enjoyable. He knows your face if he sees you in public. Always always always come to class though, he doesn't display PowerPoints online.

Second time taking Dr. Ardoin--one of my favorite professors! He's hilarious and makes lectures enjoyable/not boring. The material was pretty basic stuff, really cool assignments. It was co-taught with him and Dr. Hicks which made for a fun classroom dynamic.

Dr. Ardoin is a really good professor. He takes attendance with clickers and if you miss class you risk missing a quiz so it's a good idea to go. Most of the stuff he goes over in class in on the tests but tests aren't that east. Need to read the book to do really well. Gives study guides but only like 2 days before exams so not much time to study

He posts articles to read every week, and you have to read all of them because you never know when he'll give a quiz at the beginning of class. The readings are fairly interesting if you're into politics. There were several homework assignments and two exams, both essay format. He grades tests kinda harshly, but the homework was easy.

Had Dr. Ardoin last semester for 1100. He is a phenomenal professor!! Super nice guy and an even better lecturer. Even though the class was big he did a good job of keeping the students involved. Do yourself a favor and take one of his classes!!

Ardoin was my favorite professor of the semester since the beginning. He doesn't post his power points online, so even though attendance isn't mandatory it is better to go. He lectures are hilarious and engaging, even at 9 am, and all of my friends enjoyed his class as well, even if they weren't poli sci majors.

He was absolutely hilarious, but his class could seem like it lasted forever. Tests aren't too bad, but you need to study and pay attention to the lectures. Online quizzes are easy and he rarely gives pop quizzes on the reading assignments. Overall a great teacher.
