He expects for you to do the work. Receiving a passing C grade is difficult but worth it. He is by far my favorite professor. If you put in the effort and pound the pavement you will do well. If you need help or have questions ASK HIM. He is willing to help any way he can. Extreme professional with a ton of experience

Although I received a C-, I still recommend taking him. He reads you well and if you put in the effort, he will. He will kick your ass, and he will expect good work. If you want to improve and actually learn something while in school, I advise taking him. He is by far my favorite teacher.. and human being. GOOD GUY.

He prompts you to ask cause that's what reporters gotta do. He sees you for what you are - and what you could be. I don't know anyone in who has taken his class and doesn't think he is totally inspirational, motivational and 100 percent real. Not for phonies, posers or slackers. But if you got soul heart & brains, he's The Dude.

You will probably want to punch him (frequently) but it's worth it, your writing will improve, I wish he taught more classes. If you get a writing assignment about Spider-Man, make sure you get the spelling right and actually punch him for assigning it again.

Roland was extremely hands-on and did everything he could to help improve my writing. He was extra hard at first to weed out the students who didn't bust their asses but got warmer as class went on. His directions can be very hard to follow b/c he makes you work for the answers. He made a 3 hour class feel like an hour. He was that entertaining.

I worked EXTEMELY hard and did not pass. A new 750-1,000 word hard breaking news article due every week, which he grades based on how HE would have written the article, however he never TEACHES the class unless they ask the right questions (in class or via email). Positives: sense of humor, follows the syllabus and answers questions. Is it worth it

Roland's sense of humor (read: sarcasm) kept the night classes interesting and his lectures always paralelled the assignment. He was easy to contact and willing to help. Awesome. I would sign up for a course with him in a New-York-Minute!

He is very knowledgeable and takes no B.S. He makes me feel uneasy and not sure if he is ever going to haul off and bit a piece of my ear off. I like that. Keep up the untamed craziness.

DeWolk is fair and a straightshooter. He doesn't BS students about how wonderful they are or how easy it is to be a journalist (at least a good one). If you respect yourself, you'll respect him because he treats you like an adult and doesn't baby you.

He was completely and unnecessarily a hard-ass on the first night. Behind locked doors, he had us write an essay to determine if we were even qualified for the class. He repeatedly discussed why we should leave. He had no sense of humor and was uninspirin
