Most upsetting experience I've ever had. Fights students who don't agree with her political/religious views, never gives feedback, only graded 2 of my 7 submitted assignments. Pretentious, insulting to all, and teaches grammar/writing skills instead of ENVS material. (2 full classes spent only on active voice??) Avoid her like the plague.

She cares a lot about her students success, both within the classroom and after the course is over. She is a really amazing writer and I have learned a lot about writing well from her.

An anthropologist teaching an environmental course as if it was an English writing course. She was out of her lane and admits this the first day of class. Class content does not match course description or subject matter. Prefers relaxed class discussions, but she does tend to attack/dismiss students that disagree with her political opinions.

Comment:
Sarah Hill tries to turn the class into an english/grammar class instead of teaching about environmental topics. Homework assignments are convoluted and unclear. Lectures have no direction. She also tokenizes all students of color in her class, i.e. putting them on the spot to answer cultural questions.

Tough, old-fashioned professor, but lightens up at the right times and can be really wonderful. Very clear lectures.

I took her class online and she did not grade anything till the last week. Her assigned questions never matched what she wanted us to post into dropbox so double check! We had tons of reading and writing but no testsquizzes.

don't understand all these poor comments. Dr. Hill insisted on mandatory attendance; I missed 7 classes & still got a BA. make up a good excuse & she'll go easy. papers-easy. assignments-easy. could have passed when I was 5 years old. didn't learn anything at all, so it was a waste of time but I got the credit, a BA, & satisfied a gen ed. take it

Comment:
Dr. Hill is adamant about mandatory attendance: take her warnings seriously! No tests for the class, but assigned papers that are easy to write. Keeps entire class engaged in learning & does a good job with making the class relatable to pop culture and breaking news stories. Pay attention to lectures: she gives clicker quizzes at the end of class

At least 2 readings assigned Monday for Wednesday that are 20 pages or more. Has you rewrite all papers at least 3 times. Says you will be graded on 3 essays, a portfolio of your writing and attendance, only graded 1 paper.

She is literally the most unreasonable professor ever. She sends emails hours before class with required readings for that day and then gets upset if you don't do it. Seriously so unreasonable I can't believe she still has her job. She expects so much and gives so little. Don't take unless absolutely necessary.

Extremely rude teacher. She likes to make you call her doctor and makes you feel stupid if you don't do well or don't know something in her class.

She is SO rude and inconsiderate to all of her students. I learned absolutely nothing from her and bottom line was a waste of my money. Here is an example of her inconsideration. Professor Hill: "have you ever taken a Biology class?" Student:"No." Professor Hill: "Well, maybe you should."

She is very hypocritical. Lectures you about phones in class and being late and she herself is late almost everyday and her phone has gone off twice. A TON of reading. She is very interesting to listen to but picks favorites. She treats it like an anthropology class not an ENVS class.

She often arrived to class unprepared and come off as thought there was someplace else she needed to be. The class was disorganized, chaotic and she was OFTEN unlcear about her expectations. She can be rude and always plays favorites. Take someone else.

One of the few profesors I've ever had that seems genuinely interested about what she's teaching. She wanted to be there and she wanted to share something with us. Her class felt like what a college class is supposed to feel like: challenging, engaging and different.
