Comment:
Scott is arguably amazing as a professor and even more amazing as a person. His freshman seminar mostly centered around discussions and reading assignments, but the insights he offered were brutally ingenious. His teaching has the power to transform lives through excruciatingly extensive readings, hardcore discussions, and thought-provoking essays.

Scott is amazing! Very approachable and you can tell he loves what he does. His feedback is very detailed and personal. His class has grown to be one of my favorites. It is reading and writing intensive, very challenging, but very rewarding! Only positive things to say about Scott.

Comment:
Scott's a good guy but his grading is too harsh for people who dont speak in class. his comments on papers, both the initial drafts and rewrites are a bit vague and are mildly passive agressive. he also has a tendency to misunderstand the thesis of your paper

Comment:
Scott is very, very smart, though he is rather quiet and hard to relate to at times. Definitely not good for freshmen, but once you get to know him he's an amazing professor. He improved my writing a great deal and our Romanticism class ended up being a lot of fun. Not for everyone.

Comment:
Scott's feedback on papers is very vague and tends to contradict what he says on final drafts. He encourages students to write the way he likes it, and it will effect your grade if you don't. However, he does encourage to speak with him outside of class and makes himself extremely available.

Comment:
scott has a quiet enthusiasm that's genuine and charming, though easy to overlook if you focus on his shyness or admittable awkwardness. he will really improve your writing, though, and it's hard to find a sweeter or kinder human being. best if you're willing to put a lot of yourself into the class-- he doesn't spoon-feed.

Soctt's not only awkward and vague, he's quite unforgiving with grades and also has a limited view of good writing.

scott led good discussions, but he is so mild. he was scary to talk to after class, and i felt i was being judged by his silent observations. though many girls cite a growing crush on him.

Worst class I've ever taken. Scott's a nice guy, but so boring! I also felt he was unclear with me about what he wanted. It was a painful expeirience.

Students are too hard on Scott. Scott makes an effort to work with students on their work as students and as humans. No other professor has made been as constant about my development as a writer than he has. And he likes the Romantic poets!
