I got absolutely nothing from the lectures in this class. There is a weekly quiz and 2 midterms plus a final that your grade is based off of. He drops the two lowest quiz grades. He is an easy grader, so try your best to write any sort of work on the exams. I had to go to tutoring and watch youtube videos to learn anything. Professor Leonard helped

Lectures are not mandatory. Attendance only helps when it comes to grade leniency. Professor Leonard'd my way through. He does give a weekly quiz that is 20% of your grade. Exams are easy and come directly from the homework, that isn't collected, but is a must-do to pass exams. Make sure to show your work and get lots of partial credit.

Laid back and very nice guy, you would really have to try to do badly in his class. Just show up (there are weekly quizzes anyway), take notes, and do the assigned (but not collected) homework. He does a lot of proofs to explain all the material so he would be a very good professor for someone majoring in math/physics/engineering. Easy grader.

He's a smart guy but cant teach at all. He does meaningless confusing proofs the whole class. The two comments below are tripping. If you do get stuck with him just watch Professor Leonard on YouTube, he teaches the same material. I strictly watched his videos and took notes and finished the class with a solid A.

Very smart guy and lenient with grading. Didn't show up to class very often, although I kept up with the homework and stayed on top of my stuff. Even though it might be hard to understand him at times, I'd definitely recommend him.

I found Dr. Zhang very helpful in such a tough class. He takes a lot of care in explaining proofs and making sure that the material is well understood. The class moves quickly, so make sure you do the homework to keep up. He's always willing to answer homework questions. Won't fail you unless you don't try at all.

It is pointless to go to class, except for the weekly quizzes at the end of class. Just teach yourself from the textbook and work through problems. His tests are easy because the questions come from the textbook. The department final was also pretty easy, but I would say this class is easy for those who can self-teach.

Perfect teacher if you can teach yourself math, so just come for quizzes, & to ask what will be on the quizzes (which he will tell you). His accent & writing is rough, don't take if dependent on teacher explanation. Very generous with points on tests, attempts will get you far. 20% -weekly quizzes 20% -Midterms (2) 40% -Final

The only reason I took this professor is because he grades on a straight scale, 90% is a 4.0, 80% is a 3.0, etc. His lectures are a bit confusing as he unnecessarily explains things and ends up making it make less sense. I just used the book to teach myself most of the material and since he's an easy grader, got an A in the class.

Really tough class. He is very hard to understand, and his lectures are really confusing. For some reason his example problems come out unnecessarily long and confusing. tough time keeping up. Mostly studied on my own. Quizzes and tests are pretty hard, although i question his grading because his answer key didn't make sense. CAUTION WHEN TAKING!!!

Dr. Zhang does not have the greatest of English but the man is a master of math. For his lectures if you can get past the wordage and minor broken English then they are a great source of info. Gives partial credit galore, also gives credit for showing knowledge of material. Ran out of time showed I knew how to do it with indicators (fx) and got -1

He was hard, yeah, but this is college. Differential equations is not supposed to be a walk through the park! I went to every lecture and asked questions. I would spend hours every day at the library studying for just this class. BUT, again, this is college; what did you expect? Put in the work and you'll get an A.

i'm so patient with teachers and never thought id have to ever drop a class until i sat through one of this guys lectures. Couldnt understand anything and did all the practice problems for the quiz and it still made no sense. i usually never complain, but do NOT take this guy!

Very nice and knowledgeable man. Doesnt have the best or most useful lectures but if you ask him a question he will answer it. If you ask him a question on the quiz/exam he will definitely help you out. If you do the assigned homework problems(not collected)the quiz/exam will be a breeze. If you dont mind learning on your own go ahead and take him.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had. He is probably one of the most brilliant at Wayne State, but does not know how to teach by any means. He spends whole entire classes doing proofs and does not even teach on what we actually need to know for his impossible tests. I will say he is helpful during his office hours. I recommend him to no one.

Sure he grades really easy but unless if you already taken a calculus class you will be lost every single lecture because he skips steps and doesn't explain what he's doing. If you can study a lot and learn on your own then take him because of his easy grading. People who say he's the "best ever" must already know calculus....
