I have to say, I took this class online and the class was harder then expected b/c the subject matter was more in depth compared to the 1A class. Plus, this professor's exams were hardcore. Despite it being online, you really have to spare alot of time to complete his exams. He's very helpful in explaining what you got wrong on the exams though.

He's a real funny guy and an easy grader. Half of the class was online with two quizzes a week, if you get less than 70% on either quiz you get no credit but theyre not that hard. He makes accounting very interesting and will have you cracking up at the same time. He'll get the whole class to participate and makes it a friendly learning enviroment

By all means steer clear of this knuckle headed professor! No rhyme or reason to waste your time with a professor that is lazy and doesn't address situations. Can you believe this guy won't even reply back to emails without swaying you or B.S'ing you! By all means STAY AWAY, run as fast as you can, never look back, what is this guy smoking?

I asked for an updated grade on blackboard, his response. "I do not use it so the information in there has no value." And basically told me to do it myself "You should be able to account for your quiz grades and homework..." Is this my job? VERY confusing and unorganized, NO guideline or recommend procedure. DIFFICULT by lack of info! Frustrating!

took the online class and it was extremely hard. do not expect to pass unless you read and study. there are weekly quizzes and hw assignments, with 1 midterm and 1 final. online slides were confusing and not helpful. grades are not curved. professor took a long time to respond to questions.

Took his on-line class. I like accounting, I've taken many on-line courses and had great experiences. This was the worst experience ever. He wants you to ask questions through a general question board on blackboard. This is useless because he answers your questions days later. Also, he doesn't have a clear syllabus and forget about holidays.

I took ACCT 1A with Urell and he was awesome and this was a big let down. He doesn?t go through any lectures and he starts a new chapter with new problems without explaining the basic background needed to answer them. His reviews for the exams are unclear and his deadlines keep changing. Overall one of the worst classes I have taken.

Online Class. Unorganized. Doesn't care about his students, won't answer questions. Unclear and therefore you have many questions he will not answer. He provides HW solutions that don't even match up with the actual HW he gives you raising more questions. Quizzed are unclear and sometimes have typos that he will not fix. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

I wish I had come to this site prior to signing up for this Professors class. I would have saved DAYS of frustration. I've never seen more poorly worded T/F questions, or a complete lack of following the material. His tests and quiz's are NOT from the book. He is SO BAD I dropped, and will now delay my graduation.

Took Thorpe for 1A and 1B over Summer/Fall. HWK is mandatory, about 10 hours a week. Midterm/Final each take about 10-12 hours, not the 5-6 he says it takes. How someone stated before, he teaches this class like you already know Acct. I had to take both classes, but I would not recommend Thorpe to anyone who is taking this class for their biz. GEs
