Took as a 3-week intensive. Course wasn't self paces, which threw me off because it's the first online course I've taken that wasn't. Other than graded the midterm and final far harder than any of the other numerous assignments, he was a fair grader. Great sense of humor, easy to get a hold of. Would definitely take again.

He doesn't teach, just assigns crazy amount of work. Slapping an audio recording every week doesn't help.

Way too much work for an intro level class that is completely useless to most people's long-term goals. Do not take if you're taking more than 3 classes or work more than 25+ hours a week.

Worst teacher I've had. The amount of work each week is INSANE. Three essays in one week. No feedback, takes weeks to grade. If you get a bad grade, dont expect any feedback on how you can improve it, even if you ask. He'll just ignore you. Half the assigned readings are pointless. This guy shouldn't be paid a cent. He doesn't teach he just assigns

HUGE amount of work for an intro level class. At least one paper and a lengthy discussion post due every week, multiple long readings/audio lectures/slideshows also required. Doesn't respond to emails. Don't take this if you have a full course load. Very hard to keep up with.

Lots of homework every week. No mid-termsfinal exams, just papers. Hard to get a hold off him, no office hours, he is an ad-junct. Grading was always 3-4 weeks behind. No extra credit. Don't take this class if you have a heavy work load, there is a lot of reading and discussing involved. The readings are very interesting though.

Tremendous amount of work required. Nice guy, seemed really passionate about his material. I had to drop really early as I could not keep up. Will take again when I have less course load.

He was a terrible teacher. Taught to the students that were majoring in history and left the rest by the wayside. Strange personality -- seemed uncomfortable when speaking 1:1. I worked so hard and only received a B. He never provided feedback as to how I could improve.

Taking online class which is Slopnicks first time teaching online. Zero feedback, teaching class like it is an 300-400 level class. May be great on the ground but is a horrible for online classes. I you want to write 500-750 page essays each week and dicussion questions averaging 250-500 words then he is the guy to take

Absolutely amazing teacher. Really enjoyed his talks. He has an interesting personality on top of it. His tests are not too hard. His exams are fair. His grading is fair. Show up to class, show respect, read and take notes. He's one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. Even though I got only a B. I deserved not getting an A. I didn't study enough

I'm not sure what all the negative reviews are about? He is super informative, has a sense of humor that makes class interesting and isn't too difficult. I never opened my book except on the day of tests/exams and ended up with a B+. I would recommend him to anyone.

He is a very good teacher. He's funny and kept the class interesting. I took him for a winter session class and I was afraid because of the previous ratings that weren't so great. He's very easy, and tries to make class simple. He's kind and is helpful if his students need help. I would recommend taking his class.

I must say this was by far one of the most horrible experiences ever! He does have knowledge and it is informative however, his deliverance is a nightmare. He's the type of proffesor that you dread going to their class. He is not friendly at all. He enjoys authority and uses it to his personal advantage. Beware!! Avoid if possible.

I took US History with him, and it was great! I did the six week session in the summer and he is tough, but if you read and do the handouts, you'll be fine. He taught English also, so he grades essays accordingly. I, personally, didn't have any interest in history until I took his class.

horribad! I don't know how he was before 08, but he was bad teacher. He doesn't expect any of us to go into field of study, yet grades as if we really need to know this bull.gives you questions for exams ahead of time, plays favorites.bad students get b's, students who try hard get b's or b+.... don't take classes if you are going to shoot for an a

I highly recommend this class. His information is deep and penetrating. He gets you behind the scenes concerning the events themselves. Very dramatic in lectures, sarcastic, egotistical, and passionate. He grades on whether or not he likes you. He is not enlightened, but instead rules intellectually. He has been hurt by someone earlier in life.

I would like to start off by saying I got a decent grade in this class. I have never had a more condescending, apathtic teacher in my academic career. I got more out of my high school history class.

Exams are essay questions which he will give to you in advance so you can prepare. He will give you a big group of terms, and you have to define the term and give its importance

Did a great job making a typically boring class fun. Required a ton of notes and long essay tests, but graded fairly and didn't take off points for writing opinionated essays, as long as I supported my opinions with facts.
