Professor Whalen isn't for everyone because he doesn't believe in hand holding and handouts. Anyone can do good in this class if you put in the work. He knows a lot about accounting and provides great career advice.

Great guy, however the class is very fast paced. A lot of the work and learning you do will be done alone, so be prepared more that. He is very open to questions or whatever you need to understand the material. Definitely have to work for your grade.

I also don't understand where these comments are from. Whalen would be a great life coach, but as he says, "I'm not here to teach you Accounting, I'm here to teach you to be students." This class was SO much work and I didn't understand anything because I didn't have a good teacher. Really, don't take him unless you want your GPA to fall.

This man think undergraduates are lazy. His stories are okay, nothing amazing. There is so much work assigned and he does not teach well. If you ever get to his office, Whalen is helpful at office hours but even then he gets distracted by irrelevant stories he tells. He prepares you for the real world, but at the cost of your free time and GPA.

I feel like I've been catfished by rate my professor. I have no idea where all of these good comments are coming from. Literally everyone in my class cannot stand this man. I can handle a heavy course load, but he does not teach in class at all. This course is completely self-taught and has taken over my life. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Professor Whalen is awesome! He assigns a lot of homework but if you take the time to do the homework, it makes the class much easier. He also has great stories to share. Prepare to be prepared.

Take Whalen and you will be challenged the entire time. I took his ACCT202 class for the summer and it was TOUGH. It wasn't impossible but you had to keep up with the hw assignments (and he assigns it regularly every day) and lectures. His expectations are high but he will prepare you for the real stuff. Totally would take his class again.

Whalen is the man. He does not only teach you account, he teaches about how to succeed in life. If you pay attention in class and do the reading you will not have a problem. He gives a good amount of homework but, its all online and easy if you understand the material. You'l have to earn the grade but, if you put in the time you'll get the A.

This class is hard! however you will learn a lot. This guy will make your work but in the end it will help you stand above the rest of the kids who had laid back professors. If you are a finance or accounting major def. takes this guy. For such an important class you want the best not easiest. Like he says seek progress not perfection

One of the best professors I've taken at Suffolk. You're not guaranteed an A, you have to work for it. And he somehow makes financial accounting interesting with his tales from the "old days". As time goes on, you will think back to his class because of how much you learned. Highly recommend!

Fantastic professor especially if you plan on going into accounting. Expect him to move fast and read the book. You will not be handed the grade. Quite frankly, I think he is the professor most kids at suffolk need as a sort of wakeup call.

Before you study in his class, you should be an experienced accountant first! Or you will suffer the fact that he will not teach anything useful but testing you everything. BTW, our first mid-term exam average score is 68/125! Have a easier life and avoid him!

Prof. Whalen will not give you a grade, but will explain what you need to do to earn a good grade in this class. He has high expectations, you need to do more than spend 3 hours a week in class. The class was very rewarding. Highly recommend.

Amazing Professor. Explains everything clearly and helps a ton when you have questions. **WARNING** Lots of work is involve, so if your not up to doing plenty of accting exercises, dont go to his class. This class is for actual learning, not a walk in the park.

One of the best professor I have ever had. You will learn a lot from his class. Pay attention and do everything he told you to do, you will be success not only in his class but also in life.Wish I could take more class with him.
