Comment:

One of the best professors at Oakland. His tests are fair and you can get an 4.0 in the class if you listen to his lectures and read the textbook. He knows what he is talking about and tells the way Congress really works, without being a politically correct pinhead.

MacAuley is a great teacher. He's hilarious, interesting, and very unique. He knows a lot about what he teaches, and has some good stories. He grades fairly, so if you know your stuff, you'll do pretty well on his exams.

BEST DAMN PROFESSOR I HAVE HAD AT OAKLAND!!! He expects you to know the material but if you show up and participate you will do fine. He was always willing to help if someone needed it. I would recommend taking him!!!

Brilliant professor. He isn't a blow off teacher, but if you listen to what he says and understand the material you'll ace his exams. It's a pretty easy class. I got a 4.0 so it is possible. The guy is awesome.

Probably the worst teacher I have ever had in my college career. His tests are convoluted and subjective. If he doesn’t like you don’t expect to get higher than a C. He does not encourage open and free discussion.

Listen: MacAuley is one of the best teachers i've ever had in my life. He's funny, he's fair, he knows from personal experience what he's talking about and he's good at relaying it to you while keeping it interesting and even entertaining. I can honestly say i won't ever forget this class.

I actually enjoyed this class with him. I had no knowledge or interest in the subject matter before taking this class but he has definately changed that. He was very nice to me, but don't get on his bad side or he could be kinda rude (don't leave class early!). If you study lecture notes, the exams are EASY. Don't need the book...

he's very left-wing so if u are a hardcore republican I don't suggest him. He can be downright rude- he didn't record a make-up test and so my grade came up as an incomplete... after about a month of emails that often ended rudely he had me come in for about 5 minutes and went "well why didn't u tell me u took a makeup?" pretty rude.

Uses different formulas than what is in the book which makes it hard to learn--I bought a book and never used it. Nice man and a good teacher--expects you to do your part. It wasnt him that was hard it was the subject!

I had Macauley's class over 10 years ago. Without a doubt, I learned more from him than any college class I've ever had. He's non partisan which is what I appreciated more than anything.

I feel that this class was quite difficult for me because I didn't understand anything about political science in the first place and his methods of teaching kind of expect you to have some prior knowledge. He is a nice guy though.
