Professor Ambrisco's class was challenging but so worth it. I wish every professor taught like he did. His lectures have so much depth and can be overwhelming at first, but you are actually learning and contextualizing the material. To top it all off, he's super hilarious. You'll come out of his class a better student!

Great professor. Makes you work for your grade, but if you like English, you'll be his best friend. He is very funny and entertaining which makes lectures worth going too. I had him for two Classes this semester and both were fun. Discussions in his class are very interesting (especially if you read the material ) The reading can be tough though.

This is the second class I've taken with Ambrisco, and next semester I will be taking my third. Yes, it's definitely a challenge sometimes to earn an A, but it's worth it. You get a lot from his lectures, and you can tell how passionate he is. If I could take him for every undergrad English class, I would.

He's a VERY passionate professor and knows his stuff but is one of the hardest graders I've ever seen. You HAVE to read to make it through his class, sparknotes won't work with him. Does give pop quizzes but after a few weeks you can tel when he's going to give them cus he's consistent

Literally my favorite professor. He's SO incredibly passionate and it's contagious. Best combination of brilliance & humor I've ever seen in a man. Do you read a lot? Yes. Is he a tough grader? Yes. But is it worth it? 100% yes. Take any class by Ambrisco. He will make it interesting and make you a better writer, and you will love him for it.

Dr. Ambrisco is a great professor. He's very fair, and the class I took, fiction appreciation was most based off of discussing our thoughts on the books we were reading. Really an enjoyable, pretty easy class.

I cannot say enough good things about Alan. He is very passionate and knows his content very well. Even if you do not like what you are reading he somehow makes you appreciate it. You are expected to read and isn't an easy grader but if you give it your best you will learn and take so much out of this course. You must show up to pass!

I had mixed feelings about this class. Everyone seems to love Ambrisco, but I avoid scheduling classes with him again. He's a tough grader and nothing you correct on your papers seems to be good enough. I did well in the class, but it was not worth all the stress.

One of the best professors I have ever had. He is very passionate about literature and can make any story interesting. Also not as tough of a grader as everyone says, at least for this class.

You have to be willing to put in the work and he is a tough grader but he makes you a much better writer. It will be challenging but you will love it. Definitely take him if you get the chance.

The course is great. The professor is somehow old fashioned in his way of teaching and research methods. Overall, very fun to have this class

I took Dr. Ambrisco's class on Chaucer, and it was absolutely amazing! He was excellent at encouraging interesting discussion, explaining material, and discussing multiple interpretations of the material. The entire class reading was in Middle English (this made me nervous at first!), but I caught on very well. I learned so much!

If you love English, you'll love AA; if you're a dingbat just in it for the grade, you may very well hate him -- but that's on you. He's a tough grader, but he's clear about what he wants and his classes are often revelatory. His feedback on papers is excellent, and he's very passionate about what he teaches; we had after-class convos all the time!

I had him for Anglo-Saxon, and decided to take him again for Critical Reading and Writing. Extremely knowledgable about what he teaches and relays it well to the class. He does grade hard, but you get a lot out of it because of that. I've always received As on my papers, he is the first time I've gotten Bs or Cs, but I'm a better writer for it.

Very knowledgeable and passionate about Chaucer. Entertains all comments from students and values all contributions without enforcing his own opinion over others. Has high expectations. Do the reading. I though Middle English reading would be very hard for me, but he makes it easy.

One of the best teachers I've ever had! Not only did he make class more bearable than other professors do, he made it FUN & INTERESTING, so that I WANTED to come to class. I learned a lot about writing & analyzing books. Class was easy as long as you read the material, but it was good stuff & easy to read. I will take a class w/him again if I can.

He is arrogant and condascending. He also gets mad easily. He just doesn't understand that life gets in the way sometimes, despite the fact that you're doing everything you can.
