This man is a great professor. At the beginning, he might seem scary but then you will realize that this man is a very caring and smart person. He teaches you about the course so well that I understood a lot about the real world. He will make sure you learn and pass. A very good person.

Professor Prettyman is the most philosophical human being on earth. There is something about him that we do not know about because he is such an intellectual. and that's reality.

Prettyman is a really funny old man. He assigns a lot of reading, and the midterm and final are average. Just do the reading or at least have some idea of what is going on. A lot of participation required that is mostly common sense. Just have an opinion. Also, get to know the kids around you. If you put in the effort, he will give you the A.

The most dedicated and genuine professor I've met thus far. He is very thorough and takes the time to incorporate current events and other happenings in culture with each lecture. Brings a smile to my face every time I see him on or off campus.

In the beginning of his class, I use to dread it so much. I had never had to write so much for a class. After a few weeks, I noticed that he really does care about his students and he wants you to pass. He is the sweetest old man with his fishing vest. Always participate in the discussion. He also gives good feedback and betters your writing skill

A great professor! But be ready to work (participate, pay attention in class, read and analyze) I never wrote so many papers in my life but his feedback and the amount of work load made me a stronger writer. He is a very nice professor but you need to ask him questions or you wont fully understand the assignment.

Prettyman is a great professor but the class is not an easy A. There is a heavy amount of readings to do each week but the readings are amazing. His lectures can be dense but if the class participates it makes the class more enjoyable. If you dont like the topic, you may not like the class honestly.

Must do assigned readings for group presentations in EVERY CLASS. Groups are chosen based on who you sit next to so choose your seat carefully. He uses those presentations to teach instead of lecturing himself, which is very annoying if the students are wrong about topics they don't know. Play it safe, teach yourself & take good notes from book.

Great professor and very knowledgable. He is honestly very caring and wants everyone to learn. You have to read in order to pass. But overall, thought I would fail the course and ended up doing very well. He is very intelligent and will open your eyes so much to all the issues going on in the world.

he is so knowledgeable. the class is so boring, his voice is kind of monotone, and he makes you handwrite notes instead of giving a hard copy. but above all, this man is so intelligent, has a huge heart, is available for assistance, and wants everyone to pass. you need to put in hard work to get a good grade. i did much better than i thought

He is extremely boring but not too bad. You will have a ton of work and have to speak in front of the class in a group. Also many videos and a lot of reading. You will think you are failing and then end up with an A. The final was excessive but as long as you study, you should be fine.

This professor was definitely intimidating at first but once you get to know him he's very down to earth and very nice. Tons of assignments but plenty of time to complete them. Definitely one of my favorite professors!

He is a really great guy with a sense of humor. Be ready to work, there are many readings and papers assigned. If you do all the work and actually participate in discussions, you will pass with flying colors. He is passionate about what he does and is always looking out to help his students.

Comment:

Seems kind of stoic and intimidating at first, but he does have a sense of humor he shows every once in a while. The assignments are more difficult than avg, but look harder than they actually are. Usually grades fairly, although he is unspecific at times when giving instructions. He is old and knows a LOT of stuff (a really intelligent professor).

Professor Prettyman was a pretty bad professor. Very unclear with the work to be done, and very unclear syllabus and grading style. Most of the work assigned wasn't on the syllabus. He made it hard to follow and understand. I wouldn't even consider his class an easy A, because he was so unclear that I felt that I had to re-read most of the topics.

Dear future EOF Students: Prettyman will have you up all night in the summer, RIP. But trust me, you learn so much about racial, gender, and economic injustice which I learned is real important. You'll hate, but love him, get ready for some big laughs!
