So far, I'm underwhelmed by professor Burns. I've received poor grades on the last 2 lab assignments. When I ask him what I specifically got wrong, he can't answer it. He just says "it's wrong". Possibly the most unhelpful professor I've ever had.

Burns is a phenomenal professor. He makes sure you knows your stuff and wont make you feel stupid for asking the same question twice. Be prepared to be called on, its his way of making sure you know what your doing. YOU WILL NOT PASS IF YOU DO NOT PRACTICE!!!! Very important to practice. if you skip you will be totally lost the next class. Show up.

I had Burns for Gen Chem 2, having taken other chem professors, I miss Burns. He will call on you a few times a class. If you don't like being called on this may be rough, but I found it helps me pay attention and prepare to always know the answer. He uploads all of his old exams from the past like 8 years, which is extremely helpful.

If you're not a hard working student, don't take this professor. He is one of the best professors on campus but chemistry is full of challenging material. The exams are dificult but straight forward as long as you put in the effort to study. Has a really dry sense of humor so if youre not into that then maybe try a different professor.

I had Burns for Gen Chem 2 and while the content was very difficult to understand and apply, He was a great professor. Other students say his class is impossible, but if you take his advice and do practice problems every night and complete all of the old exams, you will be fine. Burns can clearly answer any question is a great teacher.

I had Dr. Burns for Gen Chem II. The content of this class is by far the hardest for any course I've taken to date. He is funny, and helpful. He is always available for questions and doesn't make you feel stupid. He has a great knowledge of the subject. If you don't study, you won't pass unless you are a natural chemist. Only grades are for exams.

wonderful professor. i learned a lot from him. he is funny and is very helpful. just make sure you study a lot. cramming is not a good study tactic for this class, give yourself at least three days of study time before exam.

In my opinion, Burns was a great teacher for chemistry but was very particular in chemistry lab! In chemistry we had 4 tests the whole year so if you did bad on these tests you were basically screwed. My advise would be to come to class everyday and pay attention or else you will not be prepared for the tests.

Dr. Burns is awesome. Don't underestimate him when he said do practice problems every night. He gives you old tests to study from. He will answer ANY question, in or outside of class-he has no problem re-mediating students. Tests are difficult, you HAVE to study. If you miss lecture, you'll be in the middle of the ocean with holes in your boat.

Dr. Burns class is not easy but if the students put forth effort you will pass and actually learn something in the process, unlike many professors he pushes the students to actually learn the material rather than memorize enough to skim by with a passing grade. Amazing professor and person, I hated chem and now have a minor in it highly recommended

Mr. Burns was very tough! To the point I had to drop his class. I would not take him again (personally). He makes smart remarks and you cant ever tell if hes joking or being serious. Also makes jokes at others expense. I will be re-taking this course with a different professor.

Great professor. I did need a tutor, who I felt helped explicate more than he did, but overall, Dr. Burns would help if you just ask. I really love chemistry, and he contributed in that. One of my favorite teachers with that great saying, "chemists are top of the poll!" I highly recommend him, but for clarity, get a tutor as well.

This is a great professor! I came in with zero knowledge about chemistry, and actually learned a lot. It does use quite a bit of math (algebra and converting units), I saw some students struggle with that and careless errors. All in all, he does A LOT of examples, just take notes and ask questions. DO THE OLD PRACTICE TESTS, it helps tremendously.

Worst chem class I have ever had and half the class dropped after the second exam. Remember "same book next year"! Any professor that says that phrase as much as him should not be teaching.
